Experience:

1 January 2013-4 September 2015 in Project of “Text Detection” in AAI, UTS Working as analyst programmer and research assistant (part time), and my duties/responsibilities/activities:

• Researching, consulting, analyzing and evaluating the text detection system program needs, which involves representation of image with clutter scene, and features calculation of text physical appearance;

• Identifying text detection technology limitations and deficiencies in existing system and associated processes, procedures and methods;

• Testing, debugging, diagnosing and correcting errors and faults in text detection system programmed in C/C++ within established testing protocols, guidelines and quality standards to ensure 3

programs and applications perform to specification;

• Writing and maintaining program code in C/C++ to meet text detection system requirements, system designs and technical specifications in accordance with benchmark image data ICDAR2003;

• Writing, updating and maintaining technical program and operational procedures.

Achievement: Text Detection system that is ready for future application. 25 October 2010- January 2014 Project titled “ICheque” in AAI, UTS Working as team leader and core developer of ICheque system for the purpose of bank cheque Fraud Detection. And my duties

/responsibilities/ activities:

• Research, consulting, analyzing and evaluating the bank cheque automation process system needs for the purpose of fraud detection, which involves signature detection, automated sorting out print cheques from handwriting cheques, legal amount location and measurement, and payee information location and measurment;

• Identifying bank cheque automation processing system limitations and deficiencies in existing system and associated processes, procedures and methods;

• Designing the algorithm of signature detection, the algorithm of sorting out print cheques, the algorithm of legal amount location and measurement, and the payee information location and measurement.

• Testing, debugging, diagnosing and correcting errors and faults in ICheque system programmed in C/C++ within established testing protocols, guidelines and quality standards to ensure programs and applications perform to specification;

• Writing and maintaining program code to meet bank cheque automation process system requirements, system designs and technical specifications in accordance with quality accredited standards.

Achievement: ICheque System which starts to provide service for bank. 1 January 2007-31 December 2011 In CASIA, research and develop on the project titled “Techniques for Meta-Synthetic Decision Based on Unstructured Information Processing” supported by Chinese National Grand Fundamental Research 973, CASIA.

This project has been developed and synthesized a series of techniques for meta- synthetic decision based on unstructured information processing, especially techniques for search engines to get extended expert’s knowledge to tackle complex problems fitting in the category of open complex giant system (OCGS), studying the theory, method and technologies about OCGS, and developing unstructured information processing techniques and intelligent system for meta-synthetic decision. Been working as core developer and one of co-principal investigator, exploring and developing the new methods and new technology to process enormous ill-structured information which involves heterogeneous web information, expert discussion, and 5

information about open complex giant system, and accordingly designing and developing its soft ware system in C/C++, C# and Java. 1 October 2008 – 2 October 2009 in CASIA Developing ‘Intelligence collecting and processing system based on Vertical Search Engine’ for the Institute of Beijing Intelligence This project has been developed an internet based intelligence processing system by combining the techniques of vertical search engine according to specific fields.

Been working as the team leader of the team of vertical search engine research and development as well as core code developer, designing and critically developing the system, core code programming in C/C++, C# and Java, along with running the project and making the team members working effectively and harmoniously. 1 January 2006 – December 2010 in CASIA Research and developing on “Key techniques of Vertical Search Engine and Service Products developing based on Knowledge Cross-Media” supported by the National High-Tech Research and Development Plan of China (863).

This project has been developed by integrating some techniques in the following field: Information Retrieval, System Sciences, Pattern recognition and Machine Learning etc.

Been working as the sub-team leader of one group of search engine research as well as core code developer, designing and developing the project and its expected system, core code programming, leading and working together with team members effectively and harmoniously.

1 January 2008 – December 31 2008 in CASIA, Project titled “Study on method 6

of calculation for www Information Content Security” supported by CASIA Innovation Fund for Young Scientists. This project had been developed by integrating the techniques of Search Engine, information retrieval and information assessment to extract features of www content security and explore the calculation method from the view of www as an open complex system.

Working as leader, besides running the research group, I have explored and developed a set of technical tools to do service for the www content security. January 2008 – Dec. 2009 Project titled “Intelligence collection and processing system” supported by BEI JING Intelligence Institute. This project had been developed by integrating the techniques of Search Engine, text classification/clustering and text mining to establish an automatic processing system for advanced technology web pages and explore the intelligence calculation methods. Working as leader, apart from running the research group, I had explored the new method of intelligence collection and processing in web context and developed a software system together with my colleagues.

As analyst programmer, my work and activities as follows:

• Research, consulting, analyzing and evaluating the military decision-making support system needs, which involves the theory of conflict strategy, explicit knowledge and implicit knowledge, explicit negotiations and silent negotiations, dynamically complexity, war gaming, and IT techniques. 7

• Proposing the representation of both explicit knowledge and implicit knowledge in HWME to support military decision-making.

• Discussing with military costumers to clarify and finalize the business requirements and technical requirements.

• Designing the system functions and Participating system design.

• Developing system in C/C++, C# languages.

• Debugging and testing algorithms.

• Writing documentations about customer requirements, system design, developing and testing.

• Writing and updating end user documentations.

1 March 2006 2 March 2007 in CASIA Project titled “the cyberspace of Meta- synthetic engineering for Strategy Decision-Making” supported by CASIA. This project had been developed by Strategy theory, IT technology, AI, Pattern recognition and Search Engine.

Working as key designer and critical researcher, I had combined the methods and results in the field of System Science to define the concept and design the system of meta-synthetic in IT scientific context.

1 January 2006 –31 December 2009 in CASIA Project titled “Study on method of information active acquisition in the cyberspace of workshop for Meta-synthetic Engineering(CWME)” supported by National Natural Science General Foundation. This project had been developed by integrating the techniques of Search Engine and information retrieval to active information acquisition in CWME. 8

Working as participator, my activities as follows:

• Research, consulting, analyzing and evaluating the CWME system needs, which involves search engine, instant communication and visualization.

• Proposing the artificial society model of CWME in the viewpoint of open giant complex system.

• Exploring the computing theory and representation of group experts’ interactive knowledge based on interactive epistemology.

• Proposing man-computer cooperated intelligence emerging from the cyberspace for the workshop of meta-synthetic engineering (CWME).

• Designing the framework of CWME.

• Discussing with team member and other researchers to refine the framework and model of CWME.

• Participating the development of system in C/C++.

• Writing the documentations about system design, implement, debugging and testing, write the documentations about project reports. Achievements: publications and CWME system.

September 2000 – Dec. 2004 Research on a project titled “Research and develope the supporting environments of the Meta-synthesis methodology for Macro- Economic Decision-Making” and its sub-project “Study on the systems of the Hall for Workshop on Meta-synthetic Engineering (HWME) for Macro-Economic Decision-Making Support”, and both of them are supported by the National Natural Science Grand Foundation.

This two projects had been developed to research the concretization theory, 9

techniques and implementation about the methodology of Meta-synthesis to solve some complex problems which are related to the economic open complex giant system (OCGS).

As one of analyst programmers and researchers, my works and activities are as follows:

• Research, consulting, analyzing and evaluating the HWME system needs, which involves the concretization theory of HWME and modeling, the solving techniques of economical problems, database technologies, B/S and C/S system structure, synthesic information system design and implementation.

• Proposing the theory of collective wisdom emerging from HWME, modeling the HWME as an attributed directed graph based on WWW, taking the knowledge retrieved from www as an extended expert in HWME.

• Designing an algorithm of computing the interactive linking graph to obtain the collective wisdom emerging from the interactions among experts.

• Developing the algorithm in C/C++ to implement the computation of collective wisdom.

• Proposing an effective interactive dialogue model based on learning organization theory.

• Designing and developing the dialogue model to be the user interface of the intelligent system of HWME.

• Participating the system design of the web-based intelligent HWME system, which involves information retrieval from both WWW and real experts, dynamically organizing a meeting, video communication, automatically meeting recording and summarizing, dynamically visualization, computation 10

models on real data to support decision making, on-line modeling, the process of problem solving through existing models and dynamic modeling.

• Developing the intelligent HWME system in C/C++, Java and script language, such as HTML, ASP etc.

• Testing, debugging, diagnosing and correcting errors and faults in HWME system programmed in C/C++ within established testing protocols, guidelines and quality standards to ensure programs and applications perform to specification;

• Writing documentations about system design, developing, testing and project report.

Achievements: publications and a prototype HWME intelligent system. This

system has been applied in Chinese macro- economic analysis and military strategy analysis.
