Check vehicles to ensure that mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order.

Collect delivery instructions from appropriate sources, verifying instructions and routes.

Maintain logs of working hours or of vehicle service or repair status, following applicable state and federal regulations. Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to the vehicles. Obtain receipts or signatures for delivered goods and collect payment for services when required.

Operate equipment, such as truck cab computers, CB radios, and telephones, to exchange necessary information with bases, supervisors, or other drivers. Perform basic vehicle maintenance tasks, such as adding oil, fuel, or radiator fluid or performing minor repairs.

Load and unload trucks, or help others with loading and unloading, operating any special loading-related equipment on vehicles and using other equipment as necessary.

Perform emergency roadside repairs, such as changing tires or installing light bulbs, tire chains, or spark plugs.

Bond wood reinforcing strips to decks and cabin structures of watercraft, using resin-saturated fiberglass.

Apply lacquers and waxes to mold surfaces to facilitate assembly and removal of laminated parts.

Trim excess materials from molds, using hand shears or trimming knives. Education
