Global Tool Engineer Specialist

As a global tool engineer specialist, I am responsible to ensure that the flow of communication between design engineering, tooling suppliers, and all plants run smoothly. I work as an integral part of the global manufacturing engineering department to support tooling needs and tooling projects throughout the wiper facilities. In September 2009, transferred to Vandalia, Ohio, Plant 47 Molding and took over the Delphi Injection Molding Center of Expertise and process engineering at Plant 47.

Global Thermoplastics & Finishing Process Manager

In September 2006, transferred to the Kokomo, Indiana, headquarters to become Global Thermoplastics & Finishing Process Manager and Technical Leader and Project manager for China Plastics.

KEY ACCOMPLISHMENTS:

* Received in June 2009, the Donald Almquist Award for Extraordinary Accomplishment for setting up China

operations on time and within budget.

* Helped plan the implementation of the plastics facility in Wuxi, China, in September 2006.

* Changed direction in implementation and decided to build a new facility in Suzhou, China, next to existing facility.

In addition, I became Program Manager of setting up the Suzhou facility and in charge of the budget.

* Transferred one three-booth paint machine and planned to transfer all the injection molding equipment to the

Suzhou facility. In the end I found that I could buy new equipment in the region with local support and warranty

that was cheaper.

* The plant was completed on time and within budget in June 2008.

* At the same time of the China project I was in charge of another project developing a new wire mesh technology for

our radio Fabrication needs.

* Transferred three cells of equipment to produce a plastic wire mesh radio case in January of 2009 to our Mexico operation.

* The wire mesh radio case will replace the current steel radio case. This will reduce the overall radio by one pound and allow a snap together design, which will greatly reduce assembly time.

* In this position, I frequently travel to China and Europe.

* In China, I oversee the construction and outfitting our new facility.

* In Europe, I conduct line side reviews (plant audits) at our European Plastic Facilities located in Germany, France,

Spain, and Poland.

8/2003 - 9/2006 Delphi Automotive (Delco Electronics - Delnosa) Reynosa, Mexico

Engineering Competency Manager Plastics & Fabrication Mexico Operations

In 2003, Delphi consolidated some of their divisions and the old Delphi Delco Division absorbed Delphi’s Safety Division. They are now called Delphi E&S. I was responsible for manufacturing Engineering for Plastics and Fabrication for all of their

Mexican facilities. This included the Injection Molding & Finishing, Die Cast, RIM Molding and all required tooling. Functioned as site Engineering Manager for Delnosa Plant 5, with Manufacturing Engineering responsibilities in three additional plants, in Matamoros, Mexico, which is 60 to 70 miles from Reynosa. Those plants are Deltronicos, Rimir and CMM2. Delnosa has 94 injection molding machines, as well as, four robotic paint machines, two spinning gun paint machines, numerous pad printers, lasers and ultrasonic welders, for plastic finishing. Deltronicos like Delnosa was an old Delphi-D plant and is very similar to Delnosa, but with 48 injection molding machines, with five robotic paint machines, numerous pad printers, laser and ultrasonic welders for plastic finishing. In this facility I had responsibility for molding and finishing. Rimir is and old Delphi Safety plant with 13 injection molding machines and one robotic paint machine. They mainly produce the finished air bad assembly for steering wheels. In this facility I had responsibility for molding and finishing. CMM2 is also the old Delphi Safety plant and with one injection molding machine. However, they have six die cast molding machines and 150 plus RIM molding machines, for manufacturing steering wheels. In this facility I had the responsibility for the fabrication processes of RIM and Die Cast. My staff including direct reports, their reports, technicians and mechanics was close to 100 people.

KEY ACCOMPLISHMENTS:

* Continued the MMTT (Mexican Mfg. Technical Team), it is a group made up of Molding and Finishing personnel from

all the sites.

* Started a monthly Regional Capacity Review with the purpose of utilizing all of each plants capacity to keep from

purchasing expensive capital equipment such as molding machines and paint machines.

* Through cycle time reductions and change over enhancements, in Delnosa Plant 5 molding. We have managed to

unplug 19 injection molding machines with no impact to production.

* Awarded the Delphi 2004 Manufacturing Engineering Excellence Award.

11/2001 - 8/2003 Delphi Automotive (Delco Electronics - Delnosa) Reynosa, Mexico Engineering Manager

Responsible for Engineering at Delphi Delco’s largest molding facility, Delnosa Plant 5, Ops 1. The molding department has 94 injection molding presses ranging from 22 ton to 750 ton, including several two-shot machines, with 600 plus active tools and 100 plus active resins. My staff included a Molding supervisor and his staff of fourteen engineers plus technicians, a Tooling Supervisor and his staff of nine engineers plus technicians, a CAD Department of three designers managed by the Tooling Supervisor, a Maintenance Supervisor and his staff of one engineer plus technicians and an Equipment Manager and his staff of three data collectors. A total of seventy people were under my direction including the technicians. I also gave direction to the PRL (Program Readiness Leader).

KEY ACCOMPLISHMENTS:

* Established the MMTT (Mexican Mfg. Technical Team), it is a group made up of Molding and

Finishing personal from Delphi’s Mexican facilities, primarily but not limited to Delphi-D. With

the charter of driving commonality of process and procedure throughout Delphi’s Mexican

Molding & Finishing facilities.

* Reconstructed my tool tracking system to fit Delphi-D needs and made the system WEB based so

that it could be used and accessed globally. The system tracks new tools and tool runoffs and

retains that historical data for future reference. I also made it a requirement for a tool coming

into my plant to be tracked.

Senior Tool Engineer

As a Corporate Tool Engineer, I was responsible for managing; troubleshooting and overseeing the mold design and build process for new tooling projects. Consul ted Delphi-D manufacturing plants on new tool and part designs. In addition, I purchased new injection molding and finishing equipment, for the manufacturing plants.

KEY ACCOMPLISHMENTS:

* Went to Delphi-D’s Delnosa plant in Reynosa, Mexico, on special assignment, June 2000, to solve a

critical tooling problem. I went for two weeks and stayed a month. A tool molding truck trim plates,

was breaking continually and the plant was on the verge of shutting down their customer. I repaired the

tool enough to mold a sufficient bank, then redesigned and rebuilt the tool and solved the designed in

problem.

* Managed new tooling projects as part of the program team, from introduction through production.

* Oversee the mold design and build process working with internal and external designers.

* Along with new tooling programs I was responsible for purchasing and running off new molding and

decorating equipment, for the Delphi-D Mexican molding and decorating facilities.

4/1999 – 11/2000 Meridian Automotive Dearborn, Michigan

Senior Tool Engineer

Meridian bought out Cambridge and I retained my position as a Corporate Tool Engineer. I was responsible for managing, troubleshooting and overseeing the mold design and build process for new injection and compression tooling projects and consulting manufacturing plants on new tool and part designs.

* Managed new injection and compression tooling projects, for the Chevrolet Avalanche mid-gate and

tailgate, from introduction through production.

* Oversee the injection and compression mold, thermoform and fixture design and build process working

with internal and external designers.

* Set up a tool tracking system with a database and all forms necessary to track injection tools, for

corporate tooling group.

* Managed new tooling projects for many different programs and customers, including General Motors,
