SUMMARY

As the Department Manager and Chief Structural Engineer, I have over 30 years of experience in a variety of industrial projects. The industries I have been associated with include mining, semi-conductor, cement manufacturing, pulp and paper, commercial nuclear power, shipyard and marine, military and civilian facilities. My experience consists of over 10 years of managing the civil/structural department staff of engineers and designers, providing technical guidance on a variety of projects, developing scope of work, preparing design criteria and specifications, performing analysis and design for structures, and review and approval of design documents. I have extensive experience interfacing with the various engineering disciplines as well as coordinating the design activities of engineering and construction groups.

I am proficient in the use of analytical and design programs such as STAAD.Pro, PCA-MAT, PCA-COL and a variety of design software.

Chief Civil/Structural Engineer & Department Manager

As the Chief Civil/Structural Engineer and Department Manager, I supervised and coordinated the work of engineers and designers, prepared proposals, developed scope of work, and provided manpower and budgetary estimates. As the Engineer of Record, I prepared design criteria and specifications, performed analysis and design of steel and concrete structures with varying degrees of complexity, reviewed and approved design documents, offered technical guidance on a variety of projects.

Riotinto Oyutogoi Project, Mongolia

Responsibilities for this project involved participating on teams and leading a group of engineers and designers in the preparation of general arrangement for three color houses, coordination of the design of connections for steel framing members of the headframe, and design of 40 ton monorail for the clamping and lifting device (CLD).

PTFI DMLZ & GBC Project, Indonesia

Responsibilities for this project involved participating on teams and leading a group of engineers and designers in the preparation, design and approval of design documents for office buildings and workshops, inspection pit for locomotive, support structure for mechanical components, 20 ton and 40 ton bridge cranes, monorails and jib cranes, and concrete sump.

EuroChem VolgaKaliy Project, Russia

Responsibilities for this project involved coordination of the project design criteria with the Russian standards and client requirements, and analysis and design of steel structure at the bottom of the shaft for impact loads of the arrestor and ropeguides.

As the CSA department manager, I managed a staff of engineers and designers, participated in inter-discipline management and strategy meetings, prepared proposals and developed scope of work, and provided manpower and budgetary estimates. Mercator Minerals, Ltd, Mineral Park Process Plant, Kingman, Arizona

Responsibilities for this project as the engineer of record involved preparing design criteria and specifications for the copper moly flotation facility, MCC Buildings, thickener tanks and underground concrete vaults and access tunnels. In addition, I prepared calculations and reviewed/approved drawings for support structures, platforms, walkways and coordinated the structural design and modifications with the various engineering disciplines and offices.

Arizona Public Service Harquahala Junction - Sunvalley Project, Phoenix, Arizona

Responsibilities for this project involved preparing calculations and drawings for the concrete foundation of the 125 ft to 170 ft tall utility poles and lattice tower support structures for 500 KV transmission line.

Kennecott Utah Copper Mining Company, Salt Lake City, Utah

Responsibilities for the 2005 Moly Plant Expansion and 2007 Bulk Flotation Upgrade involved preparing design criteria and specifications, assessing the structural integrity of the existing building components for the additional loads from monorail extension, addition of storage tanks and mechanical equipment; preparing calculations and approving drawings for new platforms, walkways and equipment supports; coordinating the structural design and modifications with the various engineering disciplines.

SRP Navajo Generating Station Pumping Station, Page, Arizona

Responsibilities for this project involved performing structural analysis and design for a 20 foot diameter, 400 feet deep underground shaft and jacking chamber, and support structure for the drilling machine; coordinating, reviewing and approving design calculations and drawings by in-house designers and consulting engineers; preparing response to design review by an independent consultant.

Responsibilities for this project involved developing and coordinating Civil/Structural/Architectural scope of work for pre-engineered buildings; performing structural analysis and design for multi story steel structures and concrete foundations; performing vibration analysis and design for a centrifuge support steel platform; designing overhead pipe and cable tray support trestles and foundations; designing support structures and foundations for MCC building, tanks and jib cranes; meeting with client to discuss design modification and monitoring progress of projects.

Responsibilities for this project involved developing scope of work, performing basic engineering and quantity takeoff, preparing calculations and drawings to obtain construction and environmental impact review permits, submitting petition to county government for permission to use a specific version of the design code, developing scope of work and soliciting bids for the relocation of the existing heavy equipment and mining truck repair facilities and administration building.

Responsibilities for this project involved performing peer review for the seismic analysis and design of the Forensic Science Center and eight story parking structure.
