There are five things that consider top leadership traits, which are:

Social skills: A good leader is one that really cares and values the employees, seeking to know and understand how to lead them with an individual approach

Self-Awareness: A good leader knows his or her weakness and strength and works in ways that put the two in a good balance. Safe Awareness allows a leader to manage emotion therefore displaying good temperament in tense situation. Respect for Job (professionalism), self and employees is also critical

Accountability: A leader hold himself or herself responsible when things go wrong and don’t pass around plans. Employees are also held responsible (no room for favoritism).

Consistency: A leader must always be consistence and keep employees focused on the goal and vision of the organization

Goal and Pace: Goal should be realistically and intelligently communicated to employees. The pace should be well-calculated and carried out in less complicated matter

I believe a leader should be able to carry out the following five goals

1.Motivate

2.Create a professional and accommodating environment for the employees

3.Execute cultural and social competency

4.Communicate clearly and Intelligently

5.Make sure the bottom line is met

There are three people that I admire the most: My Dad, Nelson Mandela and Gandhi. The one thing that these three people share is something that has helped me become the man that I am today. These three men showed me that all that mattered was what I did and not the things to I’m confronted with. The best advice my Dad gave me was that “ In the absence of what I want, I should take what I have and make the best of it”. I realized that true failure is giving up.

I pride myself for always being calm amid tremendous amount of pressure. Usually at my job, we are often working in teams. Every now and them a fellow team member fails to pull their own weight putting the project at hand in jeopardy. What I usually do in that instance is to mobilize the other team member to cover the incompetent worker’s portion of the job instead of yelling and giving up on the project. This has been an effective means of getting the objective done despite conflict.

Emotional Intelligent has been one of my favorite topics that we have discussed in leadership classes that I have taken. I think this is where I found many of the various leadership trait that a talked about previously. Empathy, the ability to look at the employees and understand them in a very personal way would enable a leader to motivate properly.

As a newly appointed leader, the first thing I would do would be to create strategies that would enable me to communication clearly and openly to the employees. Lack of Communication is the leading cause of unproductivity in any organization. So it’s imperative for a leader to properly communicate goal and vision to the employees.

If I was the interviewer, these are the three questions that I would expect interviewees to answer that would sway my judgment

1.How would you life experience enable you to be a good recruit

2.What inspire you

3.What changes would make for this company
