Cook County Dept. of Corrections: Security Post Upgrades at Cook County Jail, Chicago, IL. Structural Engineer for subconsultant MEP/FP, civil, and structural engineering services for upgrades to three security posts (5, 7 and 9) at the Cook County Department of Corrections. (Project Value: $11 million)

City of Chicago: Chicago Freight Tunnel System, Chicago, IL Structural Engineer for rehabilitation including condition assessment and preparation of inspection report. Work included a review and assessment of existing bulkheads. Design and construction of temporary sectionalized and prefabricated bulkheads at various tunnel accesses. Also inspection of new utility supports and cable supports.

City of Chicago: 79th Street Water Tunnel Extension, Chicago, IL Structural Engineer for review of design and service during construction and preparation of cost estimates for the 19,100-foot extension. Cost estimates prepared for access shaft, rock excavation, rock bolting, grout hole drilling, reinforced concrete liner, connecting tunnel and value and accessories.

Chicago Transit Authority: Tunnel Inspection, Chicago, IL. Structural Engineer for inspection of tunnel lining, platform structures. Assisted in inspection and report preparation for 22 stations and the tunnel in between the stations.

City of Chicago Department of Water Management: Assessments of Pumping Stations, Chicago, IL. Structural Engineer for extensive multi-discipline condition assessment of 5 water pumping stations. Included development of condition assessment reports highlighting unsatisfactory and deteriorated conditions as well as repair recommendations and costs for the site, building envelope, interior spaces, and MEP and water pumping systems. DWM utilized the final report to develop maintenance programs and capital budgets for short and long term repairs. ( Project Value: $20-30 million)

City of Chicago Department of Water Management: South Water Purification Plant – New Guardhouse and Facility Entrance Phase I Master Plan, Chicago, IL. Structural Engineer for design and programming for a new 1,500 sq. ft. guardhouse facility, plant entrance, security enhancements, and site upgrades. The project included LEED design to manage storm water through special filtration systems, bio-swale garden, and roof garden. (Project Value: $6 million)

City of Chicago Department of Aviation: East Airfield Lighting Control Vault at O’Hare International Airport, Chicago, IL. Project Structural Engineer for new East Vault to support lighting loads, circuits, and equipment of Runways 9C/27C, Runway 9R/27L Extension, and associated taxiways in O’Hare’s north airfield. (Project Value: $15 million)

City of Chicago Department of Aviation: Runway 9L-27R at O’Hare International Airport, Chicago, IL. Design of junction chambers and related drainage structures for Runway 9L-27R, the northernmost runway in the O’Hare Modernization Program. The runway length is 7,500 feet and has NAVAIDS and lighting systems to support CAT II/III instrument landing operations. The runway is served by a full-length parallel taxiway and four high-speed exit taxiways. Access to the Runway 9L-27R complex is provided by connector taxiways on the east and west ends of the runway. The project received a green certificate for sustainable design. (Project Value: $100 million)

City of Chicago Department of Aviation: New Midway Airport Facility, Chicago, IL. Structural Engineer for preparation and review of contract documents for terminals, main parking garage and Fuel Farm Facilities.

City of Chicago Department of Aviation: United Airlines Cargo Facility Design, Chicago, IL. Structural Design Engineer for schematic design of parking lots and truck docks at O'Hare International Airport. Also designed structural framing and foundation for the building.

City of Chicago Department of Aviation: Expansion of Heating and Refrigeration Plant Building at O'Hare International Airport, Chicago, IL. Structural Engineer for work that included site survey utility plan, modification of existing drainage system and design of new service roads. Also designed the structural extension of plant.

Chicago Park District: North Avenue Beach House, Chicago, IL. Structural Engineer for new 25,000 sq. ft. recreational facility on Lake Michigan for lifeguard staff and the general public. Extensive coordination efforts took place between the general public, City of Chicago, and Chicago Park District for multi-use replacement facility that incorporates offices, storage, retail, and food services. The re-design considered its historic value and reflects the original nautical architecture. Project Value: $7 million. (1997-1999)

Metropolitan Pier and Exposition Authority: Grand Concourse Substructure over Lake Shore Drive, Chicago, IL. Replacement of existing substructure over Lake Shore Drive. The substructure design was both unusual and challenging since the concept involved spanning the existing East 23rd Street Viaduct over Lake Shore Drive without bearing on the viaduct’s superstructure deck spans. In the center span, the concept is based on removing small portions of the existing 23rd Street viaduct concrete tail spans and the construction of drilled-pier supported portal bents. These bents will receive the superstructure loads through bearing assemblies. As Staff Engineer, was responsible for the preparation of plans, specifications and design drawings.

Chicago Public Schools: Addition and Renovation to Benito Juarez High School, Chicago, IL. Structural Engineer that coordinated designed & prepared contract documents for 63,000 sq. ft. performing arts center. The complex structure included tall masonry walls; 3-story pre-function atrium; complex stage equipment supports such as gridiron floor, loading galleries, pin rail and lighting catwalks; a suspended follow spot room and A/V control room; high ceiling scene shop; sunken orchestra pit; musical classrooms; and a green roof. The proposed arts center is also linked to the existing academic building with a link structure which has new classrooms and a large corridor. The new link structure is open below for maintenance and emergency vehicular traffic and is supported on 3 giant trusses. The complex wind transfer frames and link trusses were analyzed and designed with the help of structural software such as Staad and Enercalc. (Project Value: $28.00 million)

Chicago Housing Authority: Senior Housing Renovations, Chicago, IL. Structural Engineer for prime design consultant services which involved building assessments, recommendations, and renovations of CHA senior high-rise buildings, including complete upgrades of units and public spaces. (Project Value: $56 million)

Elementary School District 159: Colin Powell Middle School, Matteson, IL. Structural Engineer for new 160,000 sq. ft. school for grades 6–8. Coordinated, designed, and prepared contract documents. Checked shop drawings and coordinated with the field for complex structural system. This project was awarded the K-12 Education Project of the Year by Midwest Construction’s Best of 2007. (Project Value: $28 million)

Patio Restaurant Inc.: New Restaurant Facility, Orland Park, IL. Structural Engineer for design that included complex roof layout and indoor garden. Prepared design and contractor documents, and complete coordination from the conceptual to finish.

U.S. Army Reserve Center, Pontiac, MI. Structural Engineer for design of facility.

Villages of Bellwood and Melrose Park: 25th Ave. Grade Separation (CREATE GS6), Phase II, between Lake Street and St. Charles Road, Bellwood and Melrose Park, IL. Staff Engineer responsible for preparation of structural plans and drawings. The project involved design and construction of a four-span steel plate girder structure over four existing skewed rail lines, which included design of 1530 feet of Mechanically Stabilized Earth (MSE) Retention Walls on a tight approach with a 30 foot embankment. (Project Value: $40 million)

City of Chicago Department of Transportation (CDOT):

Rehabilitation of the Chicago Skyway, 95th Street to 110th Street: Staff Engineer responsible for preparation of plans, specifications and design drawings for repairs and replacement of various structural components. Field inspection, including over Calumet River Sag Channel, design and preparation of contract documents for complete rehabilitation of structure and roadway.

Fully welded overhead bridge at Daley College over 79th Street, Chicago, IL. Spans 2 x 120 + 20' cantilever each end, analysis done by computer and design with AASHTO, AISC, ACI codes including foundation design.

Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT): Program Management for Various Phase I Projects – Work Order 15: IL 59/US 12 Bridge Condition Report. Structural Inspector for Phase I preliminary engineering, coordination of environmental documentation, a Bridge Condition Report and preparation of exhibits and Project Development Report (Categorical Exclusion II). Work included analyzing condition of existing bridge that takes westbound US 12 over southbound IL 59. Analyzed existing alignment and roadside ditches; a topographic survey and ESR are also included. Total project length was about 2000’.

I-190 Replacement of Bridge over East River Road. Structural Design Engineer for subconsultant services to design substructure and highway sign structures.

Reconstruction of IL-62 over Fox River, Algonquin, IL. Structural design for the reconstruction of IL-62 over Fox River.

Reconstruction of IL-12-20-45 South Lagrange Road over Des Plaines River, Santa Fe R.R. yard, & I & M Canal, Willow Spring, IL. Structural Engineer for the design of Super Structure and Sub Structure for the reconstruction of Southbound Bridge. The bridge over the Des Plaines River has a span of 295’ and consists of variable depth steel plate girders. The approach spans varied from 50’ to 75’.

Illinois State Toll Highway Authority: Open Road Tolling Project. Staff Engineer/Designer responsible for preparation of plans, specifications and design drawings for bridge rehabilitation and/or replacement to adapt with new I-Pass Program layout. Project Value: $125 million. Bridges included:

-Irving Park Road Bridge, Schiller Park, IL. The bridge was with Closed Abutments, at a 16 degree skew.

-Cermak Road Bridge, Oak Brook, IL. The bridge was designed with stage construction, with open abutments, with no skew.

-Anne Glidden Bridge, DeKalb, IL. The bridge was designed with open abutments, 43’-8” in width, using stage construction, with no skew.

-I-88 Fly Over Bridge, Downers Grove, IL. The bridge was designed in stage construction, with open abutments, 42’-10” wide, at a 63 degree skew.

-Bridge Over the Kishwaukee River, DeKalb, IL. The bridge was with open abutments, at a 17 degree skew.

I-294 Bridge Repairs, Cook County, IL. Staff Engineer responsible for \ preparation of plans, specifications and design drawings for structural and deck repairs to eighteen separate structures on I-294.

ISHTA: Widening of IL-294 Tristate Toll way South of Hinsdale Oasis to IL-94, IL Structural Engineer for the design of Super Structure and Sub Structure for the widening of Southbound Toll way. The widening of the bridges consists of adding a shoulder lane and the spans varied from 50’ to 75’.
