Structure and texture filling in of missing image blocks in wireless transmission and compression. (B.E.)

When compression algorithms such as JPEG are used as part of the wireless transmission process, images are first tiled into blocks of 8 x 8 pixels. When such images are transmitted over fading channels, the effects of noise can destroy entire blocks of the transmitted image. Instead of using common retransmission query protocols, we aim to reconstruct the lost data using correlation between the lost block and its neighbors. The performance of this method is tested for various images and combinations of lost blocks.

Image Embedding in QR Code. (M. Tech)

Quick Response (QR) code is a two dimensional barcode widely used in many applications such as manufacturing, advertising, retailing etc. QR code looks like a noisy structure. The appearance of QR code can be improved by embedding an image into the code. This work proposed a method where the appearance of QR code is composed of visually meaningful patterns selected by users. This work makes QR code from machine read only to a personalized form with human visual pleasing appearance. We expect that such decorated code can extend the usage in manufacturing sector as well as various mobile multimedia applications
