Accomplishments
Capital One had two processes that required extensive manual manipulation of data resulting in high labor costs and high potential for human error. I automated both processes using Excel and VBA saving the company more than $4000.00 per year in labor costs.
HSBC used acronyms extensively, which created confusion for new associates and contractors. I created an exhaustive list of acronyms to make transition easier for people new to HSBC.
HSBC and Capital One had numerous processes that were not documented, which resulted in repetitive training and repetitive work. I created numerous VISIO diagrams and process narratives, which resulted in elimination of repetitive training and highlighted repetitive work we could eliminate from the processes.
Initiated and completed a workflow analysis of a Pick/Universe based loan origination and collection system to help translate business requirements into more accurate technical specification documents.
Designed and developed a tool in Excel to evaluate the stability of existing systems and to provide a picture of the capability of the IT organization to provide support for over 300 systems. The tool was used extensively to build operation plans for the year, and provided invaluable insight to systems at risk. This information was used as the spring board for numerous systems updates and helped the company avoid costly downtime on aging systems. This tool along with other initiatives enabled us to set realistic and productive goals that improved up time for systems from 97% to 98.9%.
Initiated a project to replace an aging time and attendance system with new web based technology that solved many support problems and filled a gap in the software’s ability to assist with labor planning. As a result of the project, the retail stores were able to reduce staffing by 10% across the board, with payroll savings of approximately $20M per year.
Designed and developed a work request database tool in Access to organize and prioritize the numerous work requests the team received each day. The database also provided a knowledge base that improved accuracy and productivity of the team by storing solutions to recurring problems. This allowed us to reduce staffing by 25% while improving the level of service.
Designed and developed a system to automatically track COBRA eligibility utilizing DataEase, Unix Scripts, and HP printer configuration. The automated system replaced an inefficient manual process that was costing the company thousands of dollars each month in over payments. The system eliminated two fill time associates and reduced cost by more than $80,000.00 per year.
