OBJECTIVE

I completed my Bachelors in Science from Western Michigan University with a major in Mechanical Engineering and a minor in Mathematics. I believe I am a great job candidate because of the time and effort that I have endured working towards my degree and my background with my previous employers. Another objective that would suit me well in this career is my ability to adapt quickly to new challenges. I feel like I have learned as much as there can be learned with my current position and would love a new challenge to put on my “plate”.

I attended this institution for four and half years. I was a part of the Lee Honors College until my sophomore year. I plan on pursuing my masters in Metallurgic Studies. I have also taken courses in Computer Science. I have obtained the Medallion Scholarship that helped pay for my tuition since my freshman year.

November 2013 – Current

Musashi Auto Parts Inc – Michigan. Battle Creek, MI

Lead Process Engineer

I am currently lead engineer of the Ford/Honda CNC automated lines. I develop and schedule the full process of lines including jigs, fixtures and other machine components. I deal with overseas suppliers to initiate prototype through mass production following the APQP process. Once mass production is approved, I localize tooling and full product process to cut company costs and lead time of components. I have direct contact with tier one customers regarding any mass production design changes. I complete all aspects of new model from the customer print provided to a CNC streamline process to introduce mass production stages. I construct all documentation needed for strictly controlled part specifications of my designs. I am constantly looking for ways to improve company Kaizen and have submitted multiple projects to reduce cycle time and increase company profit.

Process Engineer

I was a part of the Radiator/Oil Cooler Department dealing with the “Leak and Scrap/Kaizen” activities. I dealt with production management on a day to day basis prioritizing and eliminating high scrap rates and mechanical improvements that were needed due to failure rates on the product. I also dealt with specification and buy offs on Jigs and equipment, Revising and creating control plans and PFMEA. I had multiple meetings to show production using Excel and PowerPoint to prove my theory would work in a reality aspect. While preforming wind studies with in a brazing furnace, I noticed the tool to gauge atmosphere within had very out of date technology and was very inefficient to perform the task. After the test was finished, I asked if I could look for a different piece of equipment which would help plant wide employees perform this in a better, more efficient way. I dealt with a sales rep from three different suppliers and also compared and contrasted multiple quotes to my director until I came to a feasible solution. The new product is currently implemented and being used plant-wide.

Manufacturing Engineer

During this time period spent at Bunting Bearings, I revised all of the plant preventative maintenance procedures to accompany the older machinery that is being utilized in this facility. I was also in the process of completing a standardization of the tooling in the molding and sizing departments. The tooling that is being implemented right now is not communized at all! For example they are using unhardened washers to raise the lower punch to the chamfer of the die tooling. I also redesigned the prints of the tooling that is currently being utilized. I searched for comparison quotes on upgrading multiple sintering furnaces that were purchased and unmaintained since 1994.

Quality/Production Supervisor

I started working for this company during the middle of my first semester of my freshman year of college. I started out here as college help only working 30hrs a week. The achievements and accomplishments I am proud of is becoming a better problem solver with work related accidents and problems. This job also helped me when it came to school. For example, taking a quality assurance class that taught information I had already used at work, making the material seem more relevant. Once I became a full time employee I had to handle a full time school load along with a full time job. That made me mature greatly and realize what was important in life. Once I graduated WMU in December of 2009, I was offered a supervisor position in the operations department. I controlled Quality and finishing departmental operations making sure the sand system was in working order and controlling any high scrapped castings during production and performing any microstructures that needed attention. In the first six months I shadowed on two capital projects and job launches. Dealing with process engineering, parts and setting up drafts to set tolerances to the customer approval.

EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

In my spare time I build and race four cylinder enduro cars at Kalamazoo Speedway. I have been competing together for 6 years now. I have found a real thrill out of the experience. When I have some free time I like to help my family and friends with their computer problems. Currently building a lawn mower that will trim the surface area of my yard without having to lift a finger.
