Financial Analysis on Big Data:

o Compute volatility index for 2970 stocks on NASDAQ using Hadoop MapReduce, Pig, Hive, HBase, and Java UDFs on distributed multicore processors at Center for Computational Research, Buffalo. o Predictive modelling by time-series analysis on stock prices using ARIMA, Holt Winter’s and Linear Regression model to predict stocks with best forecasted performance using R.

Handwritten Digit Classification by multi-layer perceptron neural network, logistic regression and SVM using Python to classify images from MNIST dataset into digits 0-9 with accuracies > 90%.

SQL query evaluator design and implementation in Java with support for Select, Project, Join, Union, and Aggregate operations with out-of-core query processing techniques like external sort and sort/merge join and use of BerkeleyDB for primary and secondary index implementation on relations.
