Lead the Project Management team to complete design, establish and perform benefits tracking and oversee all aspects of implementation phases of the project. Lead the design of benefits tracking working directly with the CEO to report savings and establish key metrics for sustainability for the organization.
Lead all aspects of the administrative cost benchmarking and analysis for a major healthcare system reviewing Information Technology, Pharmacy, Human Resources, Legal, Research, Community Benefit and Quality. Worked directly with the system CEO and COO to establish action plans for multi-year cost savings strategies.

Executive Responsibilities:
Fiscal and operational responsibility for Medical-surgical, Intermediate, Critical Care, Labor and Delivery, Post- Partum, Psychiatry, Emergency Center, and Urgent Care Center. In addition to multiple out-patient services including Fertility Center, Maternal Fetal Medicine, Midwifery clinics, Women’s services, Indigent care clinic and an Orthopedic clinic.
Managed direct budget of $ 7.6 million dollars both on target for 2011.
Fiscal responsibility for budgets totaling $73 million dollars all on target for 2011.
Oversight of 1500 RN FTE’s
Direct reports totaled 18 FTE’s that included Administrative Directors, Administrative Supervisors and JCAHO specialists.
Served as a ProMedica Board member for Arrowhead Behavioral Health from 2009-present.
Maintained successful physician relationships within Anesthesia, Emergency center, Hospitalists, Women’s services, Intensivists, Heart and Vascular Institute, Cancer Institute and Orthopaedic Institute. Served as a member of the physician lead Quality Service Advisory committee and the Medical Executive Committee.
Provided Quality reports to the ProMedica Toledo Hospital board.
Key Initiatives/Successes:
Successfully meeting 4% profit margin to cash flow margin for 2011. Exceeded profit margin of 4.5% in 2010.
Successfully obtained JCAHO Stroke accreditation for the hospital in March 2011, and Bariatric Center of Excellence designation from the American Academy of Surgeons in April, 2011.
Lead the design and building project for a 15 bed Neuro ICU and 20 bed Stroke Intermediate Unit with creative design aspects including, a built-in EMR/white board, built in Isolation carts for all rooms, a mobile e-ICU for stroke unit. $10 million dollar project. Scheduled to open in 4th quarter 2011.
Lead design and rebuild of three medical –surgical units totaling 60 new private rooms - $9 million dollar project. Scheduled to open 1st quarter 2012.
Lead a renovation project of Labor and Delivery unit and Access regional Call Center - $2 million dollar project. Completed in 2011.
Successfully aligned nursing care delivery model to 30th percentile for Action-OI targets. Currently Action –OI targets are 65FTE’s under target for 2011.
Engaged staff and leadership team in the Quint Studer Principles to improve patient satisfaction and quality outcomes. Improved Overall hospital patient satisfaction from below the 50th percentile to the 90th percentile over three quarters.
Implemented multiple quality care improvements to improve quality outcomes. Demonstrated improved results for meeting CMS core measures, publicly reported data and Joint Commission standards. Decreased blood stream infections by over 50% between 2009-2010. Currently BSI is below the national average. Successfully reduced scheduled C-sections prior to 39 weeks to zero in 2010.
Implemented standardized residency program for all divisions to ensure that all new graduates were properly trained for their new roles. Successfully reduced overall turnover to less than 4%, significantly reduced outside agency and premium pay to cover open positions. Achieved a cost reduction of $2.3 million dollars in two years.
Implemented a central region electronic patient placement, patient transport and access system serving 4 hospitals. Reducing emergency room bypass hours from averaging 325 hours per year to averaging less than 4 hours per year. Increased Emergency center visits 3% each year for the past 3 years.
ADMNISTRATIVE NURSE SPECIALIST -MEDICAL COLLEGE OF OHIO
December 2000-December 2004
Oversight of Nursing Administrative functions for a large University Health system. Responsible for a 300 FTE float pool, JCAHO coordination, Staff development, patient throughput and nursing payroll. Developed an electronic patient throughput process that decreased EMS bypass hours to less than 1%. Implemented an internal agency utilizing current hospital nursing staff that eliminated all outside agency staff saving over $5M annually. Successfully achieved JCAHO reaccreditations without any significant issues. Served as a major senior leadership contributor for all union contract negotiations. Served as Interim CNO during CNO absences.
