Plenum Project: Model Plenum Structure on STAAD for Crane lifting Schemes

HRC Plenum: Project:

Plenum structure is curve steel plate structure 10 feet X 80 feet in plan by 32 feet weighing approximately weighing 100 tones. The Primary assignment was to model the plenum structure in structural analysis computer program (STAAD) to check for over stresses in the plenum structure for two plenum-lifting schemes. The first lifting scheme was the plenum structure-vertical. The second lifting scheme was to lift the plenum structure when placed in horizontal position supported on timber cribbing. If over stresses were found in plenum structure under both lifting schemes, then the assignment was to design temporary reinforcement to reduce the overstress to within acceptable code limits and to design temporary bracing to stabilize the plenum structure if required. The design of the plenum lifting lugs was included in the plenum project scope of work.
