RESEARCH EXPERIENCE

Biomechanics of Gait and Slipping Barefoot 2011-2012 Researcher

Researched the effects of slipping barefoot while mobile and immobile as part of an independent study done in the ACURA research program in Penn State University under Professor Howard Medoff. Results showed that the type of gait, the ridges of the feet, the pruning of the feet, and different flooring surfaces affect the heel to floor slip angle. All subjects had the proper informed consent during testing as per IRB regulations. This study was awarded the Fall Colloquium Award in Science and Engineering for the year 2012.

SOFTWARE SKILLS

• MS Office, MATLAB, COMSOL Multiphysics, C++, Minitab, Solidworks, and AutoCAD LANGUAGES

• Konkani, Hindi (Native)

• Sanskrit, Latin (Basic)

AWARDS

• Fall Colloquium Award in Science and Engineering (ACURA) 2012

• Dean’s List 2011-2012

DESIGN SKILLS

• Designed heat sink and fan components of a vaccine cooler for third world countries using COMSOL Multiphysics and Solidworks in Biomedical engineering design team class project.

• Evaluated cost efficient material and determined complexity of assembly to make the vaccine cooler user-friendly construction for a person in Kenya.

• Designed and created an EKG device using Agilent digital instruments and a circuit board.

• Developed biodegradable polymer MEMs using LOC systems.

• Developed porous biodegradable scaffolds using polydiol citrates and cultured mouse epithelial cells onto the scaffold.

• Researched effectiveness for a short-term sleeping pill Rozerem using MATLAB and designed a pharmacokinetic model using mass transport equations as part of a drug delivery team class project.

• Designed an immobilizing cast made of PVC for patient’s leg as part of ACURA research on the biomechanics of barefoot clipping with Dr. Howard Medoff.

• Simulated a typical moist ground environment using different flooring tiles and a hydraulic pump to simulate heel to floor angle in ACURA research.

• Utilized online lab notebooks via LabView to record progress of senior thesis. LEADERSHIP AND COMMUNICATION SKILLS

• Organized senior design team project schedule using Gantt charts. The schedule evaluated the time management for the construction of a human powered generator.
