Power System Analysis

Improve the power factor of a distribution substation using nominal values of transformer and conductors considering existing loads. The power factor was improved from .80 to .95 by implementing a hypothetical capacitor bank. Senior Capstone Design Project

Improved and developed the electrical maintenance plan to Ortho Biologics, Manati Puerto Rico in order to performed maintenance to all electrical components like switchgear, breaker, transformer, generator and transfer switch without interrupting the power supply to the Motor Control Center (MCC) loads. Therefore to develop the new plan some option where proposed one of them was with an automatic transfer switch (ATS) in each of the MCC transferring from the utility to the generator to realize the maintenance to the switchgear another solution proposed was by implementing a new switchgear capable to synchronize the utility with the generator so the MCC never lost power unlike the ATS solution that in certain time in the transfer the power was lost. In order to implement any proposed solution a short-circuit analysis and new one line diagram was realize. All of the current calculated were validated using Power World and SKM Power Tools for the one line diagram the drawing was made using AutoCAD Software. PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
