Operations Manager

Manage the day to day operations of a startup trucking company.

Develop new customer base and negotiate freight rates. Generated over a million dollars in sales the first year in business with steady growth year after year through aggressive negotiations and business partnerships. Ensure all equipment is within DOT compliance and train personnel on DOT rules and regulations. Dispatch and route drivers. Responsible for weekly audit of driver log books and daily maintenance of equipment, as well as hire, discipline and annual evaluations of personnel.

Account/Development Manager

Managed freight accounts with prospective and current customers to identify business opportunities. Analyze pricing and service performance trends in order to drive process improvement across the organization on behalf of customers. Negotiated rates and contracted with carriers and customers on behalf of Klos Logistics which resulted in a 15 percent increase in profit over the prior year.

Transportation Manager (2007-2008)

Managed Chicago, Illinois and Blytheville, Arkansas transportation operations, for the largest steel tubing producer in North America, with over one million tons shipped domestically and abroad annually. Negotiated rate contracts with carriers (Truck & Rail) that achieved a reduction of 15% over previous rates paid out of Chicago, Illinois, and a 40% reduction over previous rates paid out of Blytheville, Arkansas. Conducted an on-going analysis of alternative methods of transportation that achieved an additional 10% savings. Developed an incentive program for carriers transferring materials between warehouses that achieved a 20% rate reduction, with a 30% increase in the amount of material being transferred to multiple off site warehouses. Identified current and potential problems, evaluated alternatives and implemented positive solutions. Coordinated flow to avoid delays of time-sensitive shipments. Audited all freight charges; handled all claims and follow through.

Transportation Supervisor (2000-2007)

Instructed and directed activities performed by the traffic/warehouse personnel. Addressed all developmental needs of department staff. Developed and implemented a floor plan for Chicago warehouse that achieved an average decrease in loading time from 47 minutes to 31 minutes which resulted in an average cost per ton saving of $4.00.
