Plant Manager – Bainbridge, Georgia (Pigment Color Compounding, Turf, & Nylon Extrusion Plant)

Led and managed 1,000 associates and installed a Behavior-Based Safety Process (pioneered the first installation), improved safety performance by 80%, and prepared the organization for the Actively Caring Safety Process. Developed excellent compliance relationships with both the EPA and OSHA.

Developed and executed a Quality Improvement Process and improved product off quality by 90%. Applied the Behavior-Based Safety principles and achieved record-setting quality results for the business including a first time “perfect score” of 10.

Led and managed 150 associates and installed a Behavior-Based Safety Process, improved safety performance from a TRR of 2.00 to 1.00, and developed Monsanto’s Risk Management Plans required for the June 1999 EPA publication. Achieved excellent compliance relationships with both the EPA and OSHA, and maintained Monsanto’s VPP STAR Status with OSHA.

Worked with the State of New Jersey and spun the operation from a Monsanto Company facility to a Solutia Inc. facility and met the September 1997 corporate deadline.

Worked with the State of New Jersey Legislators and served on several boards including the New Jersey Chemical Industry Council and the Gloucester County United Way Board, and maintained positive relationships among the neighboring communities and the state.

Led and managed 350 associates and managed Monsanto’s 3 external Guest Chemical Operations (Sorbic Acid for Eastman, Linear Alkyl Benzene for Huntsman, and Alimet for Novus) via lease & operating agreements; and managed Monsanto’s 4 internal chemical operations (Diphenyl Oxide, Formaldehyde, DSIDA, and NTA).
