ACADEMIC PROJECT:
TITLE: TESTING OF THERMAL BARRIER COATING IN HIGH TEMPERATURE SUPERSONIC FLOW.
ORGANISATION: Defence Research and Development Laboratory (DRDL) Hyderabad.
DESCRIPSATION: To study the erosion resistance and temperature performance of TBC during missile operation,similarly flight conditions are to be simulated on ground.The basic conditions to be simulated on ground for testing of TBC is the generation of high temperature high velocity flow.
we have divided our project into two parts. In the first part, the design of a supersonic nozzle based on Method Of Characterstics(MOC) is carried out for the generation of high velocity supersonic flow.Tn the second part,the ground testing of TBC is done and various parameters to qualify the coatings such as erosion(Shear Stress Due To Flow) of the coating due high velocity flow and coating ablity to give temperature reduction in high temperature flow are determined analitically and experimentally.
