PROJECTS:

IOS Training Projects: (Some of the apps developed during the training period)

1. Display Data in Table View using Property List and saving Data using SQLite DB:

In this app, I learnt how to store small amount of data in property list (for eg, State and City details), retrieve and display in a Table View.

In iOS programming, there is a type of file called Property List. This kind of file is commonly found in Mac OS and iOS, and is used for storing simple structured data (e.g. application setting).

Property list offers a convenient way to store simple structural data. It usually appears in XML format.

Can’t use property list to save all types of data. The items of data in a property list are of a limited number of types including “array”, “dictionary”, “string”, etc.

In another app by using SQLite database, I learnt how to save and retrieve data. SQLite is an embedded, relational database management system (RDBMS). SQLite is referred to as embedded because it is provided in the form of a library that is linked into applications. As such, there is no standalone database server running in the background. All database operations are handled internally within the application through calls to functions contained in the SQLite library.

2. Using Naviation Controller, and Story Board, Pass the Data between view Controllers.

In this app, I learnt how to develop a navigation app. The first page displays the Receipe List and the second page displays the details about the selected recipe in the 1st page. I developed this app using Storyboard instead of Interface Builder .xib file. Plus I learnt how to pass data between view controllers.

Like table view, navigation controller is another UI element commonly find in iOS app. It provides a drill-down interface for hierarchical content.

3. Using Collection View Controllers, Upload Images to facebook account:

In this app, I learnt how to display Employee images in a Grid layout using Collection View. Employee images can be grouped by department. Select the images you like and share it with your friends via facebook. The iOS 6 SDK introduces a new class called UICollectionView that allows developers to create grid-like layout out of the box.

The UICollectionView operates in a similar way to UITableView. While UITableView manages a collection of data items and displays them on screen in a single-column layout, the UICollectionView class offers developers flexibility to present items using customizable layouts.

4. Display Data in TableView using Core Data concept:

In this app, I learnt how to do CRUD operation (Create, Retrieve, Update and Delete records) using Core Data Framework, object oriented way instead of SQLite db tables. Core Data is not a relational database. It is actually a framework that lets developers store (or retrieve) data in database in an object-oriented way. With Core Data, you can easily map the objects in your apps to the table records in the database without even knowing any SQL.

5. App Using PageView Controller:

In this app, I learnt how to create a Photo gallery feature in IOS using Page View Controller.

The UIPageViewControllerClass was introduced in iOS 5 SDK as a mechanism to implement a page turning style of user interface in iOS applications. The UIPageViewController is a highly configurable class that it lets developers to configure.

6. Weather Report using WebService:

In this app, I learnt how to consume a third party weather API into IOS app. Learned how to parse the XML data and display it in the app view.
