Multiuser Chat Room (Language: Java) (Feb.2015-Apr.2015):
Created a multiuser chat room, using socket programming in Java. TCP sockets were created between the client and multithreaded server for communication. The chat room has a facility of broadcast as well as private communication within same chat window. A user can selectively send one-to-one message to any client of his choice while the broadcast session is in progress. The text message can be encrypted to ensure secure communication.
DBMS like engine (Language: C) (Feb.2015-Apr.2015):
The goal of the project is to design a tiny database using the storage manager, buffer manager, record manager and an index structure. A storage manager allows read/writing of blocks to/from a file to a disk. Buffer manager manages a buffer of blocks in memory including reading/caching to a disk and block replacement using different page replacement algorithms. Record manager handles records having fixed schema.
Multimedia Traffic Scheduling (Language: TCL) (Sep.2014-Nov.2014):
Developed a software program using TCL- Tool command language and NS2 to generate IP multimedia and non-multimedia traffic from various sources and process it by a router using different scheduling algorithms. Produced the script for following tasks:
To generate the traffic
To schedule the traffic in the router in a round robin, priority scheduling and priority scheduling fashion.
To plot the graph of packets arrival vs. time
To calculate service time of the router for each packet.
Concurrency Problems (Language: Python) (Oct.2013-Nov.2013):
Simulated various concurrency problems using threads. The problems involved synchronization of multiple threads and deadlock safe implementation using locks and semaphores available in Python thread library API.
