Ran a 16 ton extrusion press.
To repair aluminum extrusion dies, used power hand tools. Examine the exterior of all dies for any defects from wear. Examine exterior of dies assure they are polished or require resurfacing.
Secure all dies in vise, carefully determine the amount of metal to remove from the die opening to restore die to its original specifica ons by using all diagrams, aids and gauges.
Select from a variety of abrasive bits and secure it into an electric tool move tool over the die opening surface to remove, polish or angle surface to specifica ons u lizing previous experience and complete knowledge of dies.
Heat die with stress cracks in oven to so en metal and tap sides of dies to close all cracks using hammer and bit.
Remove any rough spots from the exterior of repaired dies using electric deburring tool.
Verify any openings of new dies, using calipers and gauges.
