EMPLOYMENT HISTORY

2012 – now - Flow Cytometry Technologist at CBL Path, Inc (part of Sonic Healthcare, USA)

Performed flow cytometry tests in high complexity hematopathology lab using flow

cytometry machines. Tests were performed on human blood, bone marrow and

biopsy tissue materials following calibration of the 8-color flow cytometry machine

on daily base. Also high complexity immunodeficiency flow tests were performed

on BD flow machine following an appropriate calibration and cleaning of the

machine on daily base.

2006 - 2012 - Research Scholar, Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, New York,

NY, USA

Established new cell culture systems which have become the basic systems for the lab in future projects;

Investigated the effect of chemotherapy on endothelial cell apoptosis using two different primary endothelial cell cultures: Human Coronary Artery Endothelial Cells (HCAEC) and Bovine Aorta Endothelial Cells (BAEC)

Explored the signal transduction pathway of Acid Sphingomyelinase (ASMase) dependent ceramide modulation on endothelial cell apoptosis

Studied of ceramide enriched platforms in endothelial cell membranes using immunofluorescent staining, confocal microscopy and the MetaMorph Imaging System

Performed clonogenic assay with human colon tumor xenografts in SCID mice for standardization and validation of tumor growth

Examined the effect of chemotherapeutic drugs (Etoposide, Paclitaxel and Cisplatin ) on tumor xenograft growth in SCID mice to study their impact on the tumor microvasculature

Supervised and guided students projects and their work;

Supervising lab technicians working for my projects as well as other facility technicians helping for the projects. During my work on several multidimensional projects I was supervising students performing their projects under my guidance and helping them to summarize their results as well.

2003-2006 Scientific Associate

Eliachar Research Laboratory, Western Galilee Hospital, Nahariya, Israel.

Research area: Mechanisms of oxidative stress, endothelial cell dysfunction in

conditions with increased cardiovascular risk factors.

Large part of this multidimensional project was performed using flow cytometry

analysis of different cell adhesion molecules on the surface of cells as well as in

the cytoplasm, apoptotic or necrotic cell death was also determined by flow

cytometry technique of clinical hematology lab.. All the results were published in

two big publications.

Investigated the effect of reactive oxygen species produced in a chemical system as well as in activated polymorphonuclear leukocytes (PMNL) on endothelial cell functions

Established primary cell culture system of Human Umbilical Vein Endothelial Cells (HUVEC) and developed isolation methodology in the laboratory

Established co-culture system of PMNL/endothelial cell and estimated the effect of primed PMNL on endothelial cells

Performed the flow cytometry analysis of different adhesion molecule expression on the endothelial cells surface as well as intracellular proteins

Isolation of mRNA and set up the RT-PCR assay for analyzing gene transcriptional activation and Western blot assay for protein expression analysis

Used flow cytometry to analyze Cell Adhesion Molecule expression for estimating the antioxidative effect of Erythropoietin (EPO) due to protection of endothelial cells from the primed PMNL mediated injury

Actively participated in grant writing and data analysis for a study evaluating the protective effects of EPO against primed PMNL-mediated endothelial cell injury in patients with high cardiovascular risk factors

Writing and summarizing all the materials for publications

Supervising and guiding lab technicians and master and PhD students working on related projects in the lab

1999Research assistant in signal transduction laboratory for the identification and characterizing of protein-protein interactions using protein-protein recruitment system in yeasts. Bruce Rappaport Faculty of Medicine, Israel Institute of Technology (Technion), Haifa, Israel.

1995-1998 Laboratory Assistant in teaching of Hematology laboratory course (3rd year

Medicine) Bruce Rappaport Faculty of Medicine, Israel Institute of Technology

(Technion), Haifa, Israel.

1994Study in Hebrew language school and Bruce Rappaport Faculty of Medicine, Israel Institute of Technology (Technion), Haifa, Israel

HONORS and AWARDS

1996-1998 Full Scholarship at Bruce Rappaport Faculty of Medicine, Israel Institute of

Technology (Technion), Haifa, Israel

2000-2003 Full Scholarship at Bruce Rappaport Faculty of Medicine, Israel Institute of

Technology (Technion), Haifa, Israel

1988-2003 Honored student stipends
