I have over 34 years of hands-on experience with LAN/WAN protocols, Corp. I joined Murphy Oil Corporation in May 2006 to become their Network & Desktop Support Supervisor in New Orleans. In November 2006, Murphy announced they were closing their New Orleans Office. Murphy Exploration relocated me to Houston. Although I was the newest member of the IT team, I was the only one offered relocation.

Murphy Oil Corporation – Houston, Tx

IT Infrastructure

Manage Information Technology infrastructure for Murphy Oil Corporation in Houston, Tx. My responsibilities include managing the infrastructure for the office building and communications to the Gulf of Mexico, Singapore, Iraq, Suriname, Cameroon and Congo. The infrastructure consists of Azure, Office 365, Exchange, VMware ESX Host, Dell Servers, Windows 2003, Windows 2008, Windows 2012, Windows Azure, EMC VNX, 380, NS960 and Isilon SANs, NetBackup, Microsoft SUS Server, Barracuda Spam Filter, and various other infrastructure components. Responsible for the VMWare environment (SAN, LUNs, Networking, Host, Clients, Datastores, etc). These servers run various applications including Landmark's Aries, Schlumberger's Decide, Microsoft's SQL, IBM's Lotus Domino/Notes, and many more, which I also support all applications on these VMs. My responsibilities also include complying & reporting Sarbanes-Oxley IT Controls. I successfully completed all audits with only a few observations/recommendations. Another major achievements are many projects, under budget and on time.

Willis-Knighton Health System - Shreveport, LA

Network Manager

Manage Information Technology infrastructure for health system. Also, functioned as Assistant Director. Responsible for 2.5 million dollars in expenditures. The infrastructure consists of an OC192 SONet backbone, which connects and provides redundancy for 4 geographically separated medical centers. My responsibilities include managing over 100 Hewlett Packard and Dell Servers running W2K, W2K Adv, Windows 2003 and Windows 2003 Enterprise. These servers run various applications from clinical to SQL 7, SQL 7 Enterprise, Microsoft BizTalk, and many more. There are approximately 10 SQL servers in our infrastructure. Each of the 4 medical centers is a campus environment by itself (i.e. multiple buildings). There are two backbone networks, one for hospital data (Meditech, financials, & various other apps) and one for radiological data (PACS imaging). Also performed tier 3 support of Sectra PACS, SpaceLabs, GE's MUSE system, Lifecare Neonatal and several other clinical systems. There are two Dell/EMC CX600 SANs with a total of 26 DAEs and approximately 40TBs. Responsibilities include project management, strategic planning, team building, and supporting the infrastructure. Manage a team of 4 network engineers; closely interface/support 5 application developers, 2 project managers, and numerous desktop technicians. I managed contract negotiations for the procurement of a Microsoft Enterprise Agreement. We are currently in the process of deploying Microsoft Operations Manager (MOM), Sharepoint and Systems Management Server (SMS). I am also responsible for the recent purchase of EMC’s Centera Technology. Our Centera solution consists of 45 Terabytes of usable WORM technology mirrored to our Disaster Recovery Center for “Deep Archive Data”.

Contract Work - St. Charles School Board - St. Charles, LA

Contract Network Engineer

Designed, implemented & supported the network infrastructure for the school district. The school district has network connectivity to 21 remote locations as well as the central office. During first week was tasked with troubleshooting a network problem that caused all but two school locations to loss their network connection. Identified several schools with a “Denial of Service” virus generating excessive broadcast packets. Coordinated the dispatch of desktop technicians to investigate PC's generating excessive traffic. Engineered & implemented “Tagged VLANs” to reduce the possibility of this reoccurring. Supported the Web Security Servers for rules and Internet abuse. Installed and configured a Network Management System to monitor critical components in the network, monitor network statistics, and generate alerts. Responsibilities were to design and implement network enhancements using best practices techniques.

03/1989 – 09/2004 - Entergy outsourced to SAIC beginning of 2000

SAIC - New Orleans, LA

Field Service Manager 01/2000 - 09/2004

Primary responsibilities were to manage a team of 5 technicians to support all servers, desktops, printers, office applications, & other data network components at the Waterford 3 Nuclear Plant. Followed a Change Management Process, ensuring changes to the infrastructure did not have negative effects on other components, minimize customer outages, scheduled outages during off-hours, and notified customers previous to outage occurring. Was also responsible for asset management, project forecasting, managing a staff, & customer satisfaction.

Held weekly staff meetings and assigned tasks on a daily basis. The team was held accountable to meet monthly Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and was measured by Customer Satisfaction reports. Responsible for setting individual & team goals, evaluating performance, developing career growth opportunities, identify training needs, recognizing outstanding performance, and disciplining poor performance. Kept logs of outstanding and poor performance for the semi-annual review and end-of-year evaluations.

Responsible to interface with my management peers. Regularly met with them to ensure Information Technology was making their expectations were being met and IT was helping make their job easier.

The network was comprised of a Gigabit backbone with two layer 3 switches, two separate routers each with WAN routes (1) DS3 and (1) T1 for redundancy. Connected to the backbone layer 3 switches were stacked layer 2 switches for desktops and printers. There were over ~1000 PCs (NT4, W2K & XP) and ~25 various servers (Dell SANs with NT, W2K, & AD, PowerVault Tape Library, and UNIX servers AIX, & Solaris). There was 2 SQL 7 Servers in our infrastructure.

Entergy - New Orleans, LA – outsourced to SAIC beginning of 2000

Lead Network Engineer - 03/1989 - 12/1999

Entergy is one of the largest utility companies in the U.S., serving more than 2.5 million customers in five states. The Entergy network includes a SONET backbone that spans 2,000 miles of fiber-optic cable and a variety of Ethernet, FDDI, Token Ring LANs, and 12000 desktops at its many campuses.

Responsibilities included propose, design, review, implement & support Entergy's Corporate Data Network. Projects included network enhancements, monitoring and troubleshooting. Developed a “Scope of Work” which described projects, including the problem, solution, scheduling, budget, etc. Made presentations to obtain project approval. Once the project was approved, formed a team to implement. This team might consist of contractors, vendors, & other employees.

As the Lead Network Architect (1998-1999), Primary responsibilities included designing, developing & administering the Corporate Information Architecture (CIA). Additional responsibilities were to develop, update & facilitate the CIA management process; assess impact of technology trends on business requirements; recommend technology direction; communicate & champion the CIA throughout Entergy; educate Entergy about the CIA and participate in projects as a CIA consultant.

Network Manager/Member Computing Staff

As a member of the systems group, was responsible for managing a five VAX cluster, two Local Area VAX Clusters, several stand-alone Micro VAX's, several different graphic workstations and all peripheral equipment attached to SBRC's Local Area Network (LAN). Responsible for expanding Ethernet; monitoring the LAN and configuring new systems. Gained experience with VMS utilities, most LAN protocols (Decnet, TCP/IP, NetBIOS, XNS, and others), performance tuning, and disk utilization. Performed hardware/software installations, and wrote system requirements for the procurement of new equipment (e.g. cost justifying, payback analysis etc.)

Res Tech California - Ventura, Ca

Operations Manager

Res Tech combined core analysis data with porosity; permeability, resistivity and directional data to make a comprehensive presentation of well log information for multi and single well studies. Manager responsible for all computer operations of the Dec VAX 11/780 mini-computer. There were four employees reporting to me. Installed the first computer for Res Tech in California. And, my duties included managing operating system upgrades, backups, and intermediate system diagnostics.

Dresser Atlas - Ventura, Ca

Jr. Well Log Analyst/Computer Supervisor

Performed all supervisory functions for computer center personnel (4 employees), analysis of well logs, (calculations for Sandstone, Shaly Sand, Complex Reservoir, Cased Hole, and Dipmeter Analysis), manage communications equipment, writing application programs and training users. Responsible for opening the first data center in Lafayette, La., which consisted of a Perkin Elmer's 3220 mini-computer.
