I am a professional Computer Scientist with over 20 years of experience. The past several years focusing application development in client/server architectures using PowerBuilder and Oracle, and experience with Sybase, SQLServer, Access, DB2. I have experience with interfacing and implementing PowerBuilder applications to Web services (EJB, SOAP, URL) and developing PowerBuilder 12.5 Classic .NET Web services. CAREER EXPERIENCE:

1/15 – 7/15 ModernSystems Inc., Dallas, TX

As a Senior Powerbuilder Developer, I provided maintenance and enhancement development for a PB application that converted legacy Adabas Natural and COBOL programs to run in a PowerBuilder client/server environment rather than on the mainframe. Tools were SQL Server and source control WizSource. The code conversion process also included conversion of mainframe DB’s to SQL Server.

7/13 – 9/14 Experis Independent Contractor to Dell Inc as Senior PowerBuilder Developer, Remote to Round Rock, TX

I was the sole developer of a PowerBuilder Classic 12.5 Web Service. Database was Oracle 11g, DB development using SQL Developer 2012, source control was Visual Studio TFS, web based on IIS 7 and .NET 4 framework. Tasks included converting limited features from a GUI PowerBuilder application and building a web service. Techniques included a) extracting relevant code from GUI application; b) converting all visual objects to non-visual; c) developing process to share data between objects; d) developing SQL to support data retrieving and saving on the DB; e) building PowerBuilder project objects for deploying the web service; f) build MSI objects for deployment. I performed application maintenance for PowerBuilder and PL/SQL code to correct defects. Worked remote, coordinating with team members in TX, Ireland and Brazil.

3/13 – 6/13 Independent Contractor to CCS MEDICAL as Senior PowerBuilder Developer, Dallas, TX

I performed program maintenance and enhancements to Medical Claims OLTP application written in PowerBuilder V11.2, accessing Oracle 10g DB. SQL Developer was used for DB maintenance. Source control performed with Serena. Tasks include designing, coding and unit testing PowerScript coding and DataWindows. I performed PowerBuilder development/maintenance on Windows 7.

Tasks also include enhancement scripts to Oracle procedures and functions.

I performed program maintenance and enhancements to 10 RI State Worker Compensation Applications written with PowerBuilder V9 (PFC), accessing Oracle 10g DB. Tasks included to designing, coding and unit testing PowerScript coding and DataWindows. 4/10 - 2/11 Comsys Independent Contractor to Carmax, Inc., Richmond, VA as Senior PowerBuilder Developer

Migrated an existing PowerBuilder application from V9 to V12. Participated as team member on three PowerBuilder development projects using PB v9 and v12, accessing Sybase and SQLServer databases. PB included PFC with local corporate layer. Some data accessed via .Net methods using SOAP connectivity. Two projects involved developing dealer, customer and state forms using the Carmax data-driven Generic Form Control, architecture. The third project developed a new data maintenance PB v12 application for the Extended Service Policies offer by Carmax. ClearCase used for source control.

10/07 – 4/10 Independent Contractor to The Hershey Co., Hershey, PA as Sr PowerBuilder Developer

Performed Full Life Cycle tasks including Design, Specification Gathering and Presentation, Unit Testing, System Testing, Integrated Testing, Remediation, and Production Support. Responsibilities included code development for major enhancements and maintenance to Hershey's Product Change Management (PCM) application using PowerBuilder V10 PFC and Oracle 10 DB. PCM is a major work flow tool used to control and manage development and changes for all products produced by Hershey Foods worldwide. Tasks also include writing internal and external enhancement documentation. CVS used for source control. Wrote Oracle PL/SQL procedures, packages, functions and triggers. Interfaced with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) using ActiveX OLE techniques. DB tool is SQL Developer used for SQL and DB performance assurance. Messaging to SAP using IBM Websphere MQ client object. Application supported connecting to application from local synced copy, or via Citrix connected to a network server.

06/07 – 10/07 Comsys Independent Contractor to Carmax, Inc., Richmond, VA as Senior PowerBuilder Developer

Performed program maintenance and enhancements to Carmax’s 22 Store Sales applications with PowerBuilder V9 and Sybase 12 DB. Tasks also include writing internal and external enhancement documentation. ClearCase used for source control. Three month contract only.

Performed program maintenance and enhancements to AmerenUE’s Power Plant Preventive Maintenance application with PowerBuilder V9 and Sybase 12.5 DB. Tasks also included development of stored procedures.

4/05 – 3/06 Independent Contractor to Harcourt Assessment., San Antonio, TX as Senior PowerBuilder Developer

I designed and developed additional features to Harcourt’s Test Generation Tool using PB 8.03 and Oracle DB. The application provides users the capability to generate and maintain student assessment tests based on internal and state standards. Interfacing with project manager, I produced detailed design specifications and developed code towards approved specifications. Some PB features used were pop-up menus, timer events, treeviews, PFC, EAServer components, Oracle Text retrieval technology, and an API to TE Editor from Sub Systems. Source Control is managed by StarTeam 5.2.

11/04 – 4/05 Comsys Independent Contractor to Timken Co., Canton, OH as Senior PowerBuilder Developer

Assisted Timken to add additional features to their legacy Global Technical Sales Tool using PB 9.01 and Access DB. The application provides engineering specifications and design options for Timken’s complete line of steel bearings. A recent Timken acquisition doubled their product line and the additional features support the new products. Interfacing with project manager and one technical lead to gather high-level process design specifications and test data. I am producing detailed design specifications and developing code towards approved specifications. Some PB features used are pop-up menus, timer events, OLE connections to FORTRAN DDL libraries.

Source Control (PVCS) used as the PB native source control. Also use SourceSafe for PB libraries.

7/00 – 11/04 McKesson Inc. Technical Lead – PowerBuilder Client/Server Applications

I accepted a full time position with McKesson. My duties included the production support, maintenance and enhancements for 4 PowerBuilder applications.

I was the team leader for 4 major projects. These projects expanded the revenue generating capabilities for 3 business units. Teams were composed of both contracted and McKesson developers. A project enabled one business unit to eliminate their backlog of revenue generating tasks. Another project required data access from both Oracle and DB2, the later via DB2 Connect and DB2 Client and invoking DB2 stored procedures from PowerBuilder. The third project involved the migration of the customer ordering process for a McKesson subsidiary to core McKesson infrastructure, including conversion of customer and product master data. The last project required the re-engineering of McKesson’s Customer Services call center application. I designed a new GUI that utilized tabs on a single window rather than the previous multi-window design.

The re-engineering included the migration from PowerBuilder 5 to PowerBuilder 9. This migration was chosen in order to make use of PowerBuilder’s Web interface capabilities for EJB, POSTURL and GETURL, and SOAP connections to remote ordering and pricing systems. These Web connections eliminated the use of 5 utility applications, thus realizing the SLA improvements required by the business unit to meet their financial goals. I developed and deployed SOAP and EJB proxies, and code to connect to the Web server using JBOSS.

PVCS used for PB and DB code was CCC Harvest.

I also developed two (2) Oracle SQL/PL packages and associated triggers utilized by a customer telephony system for processing customer credits and product returns. I also developed UNIX shell scripts for back office data maintenance batch jobs and data transfer to remote systems.

3/00 – 7/00 Contract Developer to McKesson Inc.

Assignment was to support/maintain/enhance a business critical financial application developed with PowerBuilder V6.5 and Oracle V7.3.4. I was replacing a contractor who was scheduled to leave in 2 weeks. I was able to gain a good working understanding of the application in that time frame. I identified and implemented 3 process improvements over the next 3 months.

9/99 to 3/00 Primac Software, Inc Sr. PowerBuilder Developer

Developer of printing industry application in PB6.5/PFC and corporate level PFC extensions. Included OCX interface with remote serial data entry devices And touch-screen window design. Back-end is SQLServer and Unidata with multiple connections. Developed InstallShield profiles for application distribution.

6/99 to 9/99 Computer Software Innovations, Orlando, FL Programmer

Developer of courtroom application in PB 6.5/PFC and corporate level PFC extensions. Dynamic data-driven window and tab navigation techniques, object focus and property manipulation. Back end was SQL Server and Informix.

4/99 to 6/99 InfoTech, Gainsville, FL Contractor

Implementing enhancements, modifications and corrections to a PB 5.03 SQLAnywhere commercial application. Tasks include building nested reports, windows, and user objects and dB changes to support the new development.

1998 to 1999 Hughes Supply Incorporated, Orlando, FL Programmer

Maintained a PowerBuilder 6.0 MDI/PT financial planning application accessing Informix database. Developed new features, reports and enhancements using PowerBuilder 6.0 and Powertools Class libraries. Application allowed input of financial planning data for company’s wholesale and administrative branches, plan roll-up, review and approval, supported by dozens of report options and the ability to transfer data to/from corporate GL DB.

1997 to 1998 Phillips Petroleum Company, Borger Refinery, Borger,TX Programmer

Developed a PowerBuilder 5.0 MDI/PFC application accessing Oracle tables. The application delivered lab result data with multiple data display, print and data export and report options. Objects used included tabs, datastores,116 data windows tabular and crosstab . Other tools employed were RoboHelp for the help files and Install Builder for distribution. Developed several C and FORTRAN applications for the delivery of data to data warehouse database. Migrated application to PB 6.0. Used Developer 2000 for Oracle stored procedures development.

1995 to 1997 CUTLER/WILLIAMS, INC. Software Engineer

Developed portions of large PC PowerBuilder three-tier application for processing and filing hard copy, FAX, and EDI Workman’s Compensation First Report of Injury for insurance service company. Project involved DB logical data model design, physical DB design, design and development of PowerBuilder windows, data windows, User Objects, Events and Functions visual and non-visual ;middleware interfaces; analysis of filing requirements for 50 states, triggering conditions. Other tools used were Watcom DB s, MS Word, MS Excel, and MSProject. Project Manager of three Software Engineers for the application development to capture and track merchandise and labor costs relating to garment alterations for large national retailer. Technology included barcode scanners, Ingres DB using ABF facility for screen development, C Language interfaces, management reports, bi-directional data interfaces from store servers to corporate mainframe, and IBM RS/6000 servers. Project completed ahead of schedule and under budget allowing customer to roll out application on schedule.

1994 to 1995 ARCO WESTERN ENERGY COMPANY Consultant

Project consultant and developer for the conversion of mainframe financial applications to Paradigm’s EXCALIBUR on RA/6000. Developed CLIPPER, PowerBuilder/dBASEIV and FileMaker Pro applications to automate the production of monthly/quarterly reports, which reduced process time by 90 . Authored "Business Interruption Recovery Plan" for accounting processes and related IT. Integrated the BottomLine CheckGard check printing application, including user training and documentation.

1992 to 1994 PERTAMINA, NATIONAL OIL CO. OF REPUBLIC OF INDONESIA

Consultant, Refinery Directorate

Document imaging and business process re-engineering project consultant. Evaluated, recommended, and installed the hardware/software for Optical Storage and Retrieval System using ORACLE and work flow, including a TCP/IP network for DEC RISC server and PC clients using an Electronic Image Management System EIM ; scanner, printer and OCR workstations; and a D-O erasable optical jukebox server. Installed PC NOVELL LAN using gateway to DECNET

backbone.

Project consultant for drafting Master Plan to re-engineer and computerize the Directorate with maximum legacy system utilization. Tasks included:

1preparation of the two questionnaires and interviewing over 70 clients managers and users to determine current technology, needs, problems and plans relating to data, applications, hardware and data communications.

2analysis of questionnaire and interview results.

3providing management with detailed implementation plan for short term 1-8 months and long term 15 years solutions. Plan included Management and Technical systems, including recommendation of standards and procedures for data, hardware, application and data communication systems, phased implementation, training, legacy system integration, data security and costs.
