Job specification :
Trainee need to handle a task on Next Generation Sequencing project. The task involve
including pre-processing analysis, quality assessment, expression analysis and also differential
expression analysis. Besides that, trainee was introduced to perl language and other programs such as
FastQC, TopHat and WinSCP. Also, trainee was required to analyze laccase gene in Ganoderma
boninense that involve in basal stem root disease commonly affected plants such as palm and coconut
tree. Trainee was required to conduct the presentation in Journal Club (Executive group).
Final Year Project :
Computational characterization of tetraloop and tloop in RNA 3D structures.
Project Overview :
The objectives of this project was to annotate tetraloop and tloop structural motif in RNA 3D structures by using bioinformatics approach and also to study degree of conserved tertiary motif in RNA 3D structures. Structural motif involve in formation and stabilization of RNA and focus in this study was ribosom structures.Through this project, student was exposed to bioinformatics tools in order to complete all the objectives stated. Also, student need to work independently under minimal supervision and here, self-learning concept was applied.
