Team Leader/ Operator 2011 – 2015

Boosted efficiency from 39% to almost 60%. The main thrust of this improvement was achieved by basic trouble- shooting of the machinery, training/ retraining operators and improving the recording of downtime (thereby focusing efforts to reduce/ eliminate downtime).

Prior to the Team Leader role I operated various welding machines and performed weld repairs.

•Managed the Production Department, between 80 and 90 employees.

• Improved efficiency on twinscrew and Banbury extruders. Most improvements were in the range of 5-10%, some were considerably higher (PE process aid masterbatch boosted by 50%)

•Participated in implementing 5S, ran production trials, conducted manual handling training.

•Investigated quality/ process-related issues and implemented and maintained preventative and corrective actions.

•Interacted on a daily basis with Sales, Planning/ Scheduling, Quality and Shipping departments to ensure we satisfied customer demands and met deadlines.

Senior Laboratory Technician 1997 – 2003

•Performed a wide range of on-line QC tests, including MFI/MVR, ash (filler content), dispersion, NIR and FTIR, adjusting formulae for colour consistency, for 7 extruders.

•Isolated reject material quickly and efficiently, to enable the material to be reworked throughout the rest of the run or, in extreme cases, to be re-run or even quarantined.
