CAREER SUMMARY
I have more than 40 year’s experience in the mechanical design and drafting field, including but not limited to designing pipe systems, plant layout and equipment layout. Served as a lead designer on several projects, supervising the work and progress of other designers. Through this experience, I have gained a good working knowledge of structural and electrical drawings and have assisted the structural and electrical departments on several occasions. I mainly performed cad work on Microstation. I have used Autocad occasionally depending on the job requirements. (Client preference)
ENGINEERING EXPERTISE
From May 2000 to August 2014 I was working with Sargent and Lundy as a senior mechanical designer.
I worked on the Riverside power plant. The client wanted to convert its coal burning boiler to two HRSGs (Heat Recovery Steam Generator). On this project we made five trips to the site to check for existing interferences and new interferences with our new piping. I was responsible for routing the new high pressure and low pressure steam lines from the two HRSGs to the steam turbine. Tie in points had to be located and checked for clearances based on the revised P & IDs.
I routed the gas lines underground from the tie in point to the two combustion turbines.
On other projects I worked on, I routed other piping systems such as cooling water, chilled water, vacuum lines, hose down stations, demin water, instrument air and service air to name a few.
I reviewed vendor equipment drawings, general arrangement drawings, equipment location drawings and reviewed isometrics we received from designers located in India to check if they followed the P & ID and followed normal Engineering and design practices.
We made extensive use of 3D drawings and models.
