Maintain safe operation of the laboratory.

Supervise a team of nine laboratory personnel.

Acted as liaison with Environmental, Technical Services, Operations and Maintenance Departments as well as other refineries and corporate offices.

Ensure the reliability of the laboratory by obtaining redundant equipment, maintaining and promoting consumables management philosophy, and instituting preventive maintenance plans.

Accomplishments

Turned a struggling quality program into competitive and respected operation. The professionalism and integrity of the laboratory have been demonstrated in performance of internal and external audits as well as the respect gained by both internal and external customers.

Greatly increased the safety of the laboratory by scrutinizing our HF acid test methods, improving instrumentation and installing new fume hoods and counters.

Implemented numerous methods including D3606 benzene, D5769 total aromatics, DHA, Lubricity, automated cloud and pour, oxidative stability and purge and trap gas chromatography.

Solved a lot of problems with instrumentation including coking in sulfur analyzers and valve plugging issues.

Improved data and record keeping and implemented Sample Manager as our Laboratory Information Management System.

Relocated a laboratory from our Yorktown, Virginia Refinery to Gallup, New Mexico.
