EDUCATION

The University of Western Ontario London, ON

Master of Engineering in Chemical Engineering Sep 2014-Jun 2015

Core courses: Transport Processes; Advanced Polymerization Engineering; Advanced Chemical Reaction Engineering.

High performance in both group and individual projects. Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and meet established deadlines.

Beijing Institute of Technology Beijing, China

Bachelor of Science in Chemistry Sep 2006-Jun 2010

Awarded two scholarships ($1000.00 each) for outstanding academic performance.

Financed studies by part-time work as a chemistry teacher in an education company.

ENGINEERING EXPERIENCE

Engineer, Research Assistant Jiujiang, China

SINOPEC (China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation), Jiujiang Company Oct 2010-Jan 2014

Performed tests throughout stages of production to determine degree of control over variables, including temperature, density, specific gravity, and pressure.

Performed laboratory studies of steps in the manufacturing of new product and tested proposed processes in small scale operation.

Conducted research to develop new and improved chemical manufacturing processes. Developed a new catalyst which can save 10% in costs due to higher efficiency.

Projects

Production of NI-supported Catalyst for Development of Special Solvent Oil Project

Produced Ni-supported catalyst (Ni/TiO2-SiO2) and proved that the catalyst had higher activity in low temperatures and better sulfur tolerance.

Proved that this kind of catalyst had strong anti-carbon properties and a long lifespan.

National Standard No. 70 Heavy Traffic Paving Petroleum Asphalt Development

Combined asphalt and top distillate oil to produce new national standard 70th Heavy Traffic Paving Petroleum Asphalt.

Successfully combined extract oil produced by Sinopec Jinmen Company (lower cost) and water proofing asphalt produced by Sinopec Jiujiang Company, decreasing production cost and generating economic benefits.

ACADEMIC PROJECTS

Synthesis of Poly-bis-acrylamide by Inverse Suspension Beijing, China

Independent Researcher Supervisor: Yanchun Ye Sep 2008-Jun 2010

Synthesized poly-bis-acrylamide by using liquid paraffin and cyclohexane as oil phase; deionized water as water phase, Span-80 as dispersant, N, N '-methylene-bis-acrylamide as cross link-agent and anhydrous sodium sulfite as evocating agent; stirred under heating conditions to form Poly-bis-acrylamide in spherical particles. Inverse suspension can control the polymer molecular weight efficiently.

Completed several groups of control experiments to find out influences on the forms and degrees of polymerization of the product under different conditions; determined best quantities of dispersant, cross link-agent, sodium sulfite and raw material, the water-oil ratio, the mixing speed, the reaction temperature and the reaction time.

Speculated that this polymer had strong adsorption capacity because it contained many carbonyl & amino groups and had high specific surface area; tested the product’s adsorption capacity of aniline solution in different concentration by experiments; concluded that this product have approximately 50% absorption rate on aniline solution in low concentrations.
