TYCO INTERNATIONAL, Boca Raton, FL Jan 2014 – Aug 2014 Mechanical Design Engineer "Contractor"
Research methods of integrating new and upcoming technologies into fire protection and security products and utilize CAD design tools for concept development and creation of industrial design ideas. Designed and developed radio wireless sensor network devices from initial evaluation of theoretical design through to development stage, prototyping and manufacturing. MOTOROLA SOLUTIONS, Plantation, FL 2007 – 2013
Sr. Mechanical Engineer
New Product Development
Designed radio components and oversaw all manufacturing activity of development for rugged portable radio line. Supported development, launch of new products and collaborated with development engineering and manufacturing groups to reach desired goals within time specifications. Implemented Six Sigma tools to derive precise tolerance analysis for mechanical assemblies. Designed and conducted testing experiments using statistical tools and techniques to confirm product quality and identified areas for improvements. Designed, developed and tooled plastic injection molded components; injection molded rubber components, machined components and air / water sealing test fixtures, which met design requirements and capabilities and properly assembled into final product. Mechanical Engineering build champion for factory radio product line. Managed and supervised radio factory build team, oversaw all manufacturing activity, root caused design and manufacturing issues during build effort and implemented solutions. This led to deliver quality products and met schedule requirements.
Performed Accelerated Life Testing and Mil-Std certification testing on components and final products, which ensured Motorola product specifications were met. BASSAM YAZIGI 2.
Involved in publication of Motorola Solutions Liquid Crystal Display specification document. Identified critical optical measurements and testing procedures for specification document. Managed display optics laboratory and trained team members on using laboratory equipment. Obtained one patent disclosure pursue.
Current Products Support
Provided live customer support to maintain radio products and resolve field concerns and failures. Performed engineering analysis, validation testing, scheduling and design modifications. Identified and qualified part vendors. Maintained open line of communication and served as liaison between manufacturing and vendors. Resolved issues related to design, material selection and manufacturing processes that risked successful delivery to customers. Program deliverables were met on time, per plan and on budget. Saved over $100K for lifetime of product when modified existing designs, analyzed test data and implemented Six Sigma methodologies to derive viable engineering solutions. Prevented part shortages in factory and avoided unwanted shut downs by providing continuous engineering support for existing products and resolved customer field failures for various components such as flexes, Liquid Crystal Displays, aluminum castings, injection molded plastic parts. Performed Failure Mode Engineering Analysis FEMA to identify possible failure root causes. This saved countless hours of hands-on testing.
ENGINEERING MANUFACTURING SERVICES, Tampa, FL 2005 – 2006 Application Engineer
Provided rapid prototyping services using the latest additive manufacturing 3D printing technologies and 3D scanning, reverse engineering and inspection services. Built prototypes using Z-Corp rapid prototyping machines and designed products for customers using SensAble technology, SolidWorks, Z-Scanner 7000 and 3D Max. Created technology solutions by matching equipment capabilities to client needs and staffed over 6 technical trade shows annually for up to 45,000 participants. PRO DESIGN SOLUTIONS, Myakka City, FL 2004 – 2005
