WORK EXPERIENCE

ThermoFisher Scientific - Bannockburn, IL

Depot Repair Technician - May 2011 to April 2015

Perform electro-mechanical repairs and preventative maintenance on the Dionex HPLC, IC and ASE instrument lines. Receive the instrument in, evaluate the work necessary, provide a quote, perform the repair after approval of the charges, test operation and ship the instrument back to the owner once payment is received. Perform factory warranty repairs on instruments with defective or recalled parts and problematic instruments service reps are unable to repair in the field. Provide support for the instruments used by the COE lab and provide technical support for the call center and service technicians in the field. Work with the proper groups to improve the design of equipment and identify areas where improvements can be made to instrument design. Perform major repairs that are preferred not done at the customers site.

The company was able to save over $300k is service contracts by me taking this position.

Performing calibrations, preventative maintenance, warranty repairs and service repairs on multi-vendor High Performance Liquid Chromatography equipment; (Factory Trained on: Agilent, Hitachi, Shimadzu, Thermo, and Waters HPLCs), Spectrophotometers; (Factory trained on Shimadzu and Beckmann), Gas Chromatography; (factory trained on: Agilent) and other instrumentation used in Research and Development, such as centrifuges, incubators, vacuum ovens, titrators, thermometers, and pipettes.
