PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
PROJECT ENGINEERING
Supply Water Piping Design and Construction, City of Cambridge, MA Water Dept. (CWD) Engineering Division
Designed proposed water main and service connection layouts and created AutoCAD working drawings, monitored field construction and installation of water mains and service connections, and created accurate as-built AutoCAD engineering record drawings documenting completion of eleven (11) water piping projects throughout the City.
Specified and selected special piping support structures for a pipe-jacking operation under an active AMTRAK Right-of-Way.
Automated Meter Reading (AMR) Project (CWD)
Successfully managed and coordinated field services of in-house CWD staff with those of a private outside Contractor to install and set-up an automated water meter (AMR) reading system serving 15.000 different water accounts throughout the City of Cambridge.
Instrumentally brokered siting agreements between outside parties (typically facility managers) and Cambridge Legal Staff in order to place data collector units (antennae) upon high rise buildings throughout the City for enhancing system efficiency in capturing formerly blocked or lost RF water usage data transmissions.
Water Treatment Plant Facility Upgrade Projects (CWD)
HVAC System Upgrades - Proactively initiated an engineering study focused upon Water Treatment Plant HVAC system operating deficiencies, and developed a technical report outlining issues to be addressed. Report was used by an outside HVAC commissioning engineering firm for baseline data to delineate their initial retro-commissioning scope of work.
Water Treatment Chemical System Upgrades -Researched various alternative methods for the use of aqueous ammonia in the chemical treatment of supply water, and developed a redesign of the Plant chemical delivery system intended to lower worker exposures to hazardous materials and enhance overall facility operations through separation of functional use areas.
Building Envelope/Structural Upgrades -Afforded key technical/administrative services in the completion of a Homeland Security-funded project to fortify the structural resistance of the Plant curtain walls against terrorist bomb threats.
Cell Manipulation Core Facility Project, Dana Farber Cancer Institute, Environmental Health & Engineering (EH&E)
As a third party Field Engineer, worked closely with a Validation Professional and an MEP coordinator to verify and document the FDA regulated construction and installation of HVAC/mechanical, electrical, plumbing and specialty medical gas systems during the build-out of a cancer research and gene therapy production clean room facility at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute Boston.
Wrote commissioning reports for discussion at weekly project meetings, witnessed and documented testing of systems (ducts, piping, medical gas and cryogenic) by others, and, teamed with a Siemens Controls engineer, to test HVAC systems through 172 different failure mode scenarios to verify back-up system maintenance of all critical environmental set points within lab spaces.
ENGINEERING DESIGN DRAFTING
Civil- Site Design, Koutalidis Civil Design Services, Briggs Engineers - Created plans, details and profile drawings (AutoCAD and board drafting) for civil-site engineering projects. Conducted site storm drainage analyses, sized/designed storm piping, septic piping design, street and parking layouts, designed retaining walls, and conducted various engineering tests to assess site development parameters.
Civil – Road Construction, City of Cambridge, MA DPW Engineering Division – Produced entire set of plans, sections, profiles and details for a major reconstruction of Mt. Auburn Street, Cambridge, MA.
HVAC Design Drafting, Environmental Health & Engineering, (EH&E) - Researched and specified equipment and designed the layout for an HVAC system for a records archive facility, created schematic drawings for R&D duct work test rigs and electrical schematics for field testing monitoring equipment for an EPA-funded air quality study.
Architectural/Structural Design Drafting, Charles Chaloff & Associates, Krueger, Krueger, Albenberg – For various structural engineering and architectural design firms in Greater Boston, produced and executed exceptional architectural/structural plans, framing plans, details, sections, et al for single family residences, schools, multistory condominium, apartment and office structures.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERTISE (Cont.)
CONSTRUCTION INSPECTION/FIELD ENGINEERING
Civil- Site Projects, Briggs Engineers, Koutalidis Civil Design Services (KCDS) – With Briggs Engineers Site Engineering Division, conducted percolation tests, traffic studies, channel soundings, and assisted in wetlands delineation surveys to determine site development constraint parameters and environmental impacts. For KCDS, monitored soil test pit excavations and documented soil conditions for proposed retaining wall/grading changes.
Civil – Roads and Sidewalks, Briggs (City of Boston DPW), Medford, MA Engineering Dept. – Inspected and documented construction of roadways, sidewalks, underground utilities and HC ramps within inner City neighborhoods of Boston, MA. With the City of Medford, MA, took part in conducting engineering instrument surveys of as-built road conditions and utility piping installations.
Underground Utility Piping Inspections/Drainage Studies, Town of Belmont, MA Engineering Dept. – Inspected and documented repairs to and installations of sanitary and storm drainage connections and street mains. Assisted in topographic/drainage studies
Vertical Construction Inspection, Towns of Belmont and Lexington, MA, Charles Chaloff & Associates – With Belmont and Lexington, MA Building Depts., conducted Code compliance construction inspections, investigated and assessed structural damage and levels of occupancy safety within structures damaged by fires, vehicular accidents and storms. With Chaloff & Associates, witnessed reinforced concrete coring tests and conducted visual damage/repair surveys for buildings requiring reconstruction.
ESTIMATING/PROPOSAL DEVELOPMENT
Architectural Glazing/Curtain Wall Construction, US Emergency Glass Constr. Div. - Conducted drawing take-offs, compiled subcontractor bids and produced cost estimates and proposals for glazing projects.
HVAC/MEP and Life Safety Building Commissioning Projects, EH&E, Analyzed MEP design drawings, attended meetings and site walk-throughs, reviewed RFP documents, gathered subcontractor bids to produce scopes of work, cost estimates and technical proposal for various large-scale building projects: biotech, hi-tech, public schools, colleges, universities, medical, office and residential facilities.
