Cardiac Unit (2006)
Research/Preceptor for new graduate nurses.
In 2006 SJRMC opened a new cardiac unit. I assisted with the research, development and implementation of the unit policy and protocols in order to meet national benchmark standards. I was a preceptor/charge nurse for new graduate nurses for the cardiac unit, orienting them to nursing practices, patient management, time management, critical thinking skills and organization. Assisted with research and outcomes of patients with chest pain that presented to the ED and were admitted to the hospital. Expectations being that cardiac patient outcomes would improve with a specialty unit.
