Bachelor of Applied Science in Mechanical Engineering – May 2015 University of Colorado at Colorado Springs, Colorado Springs, CO Relevant Coursework: Human Kinetics, Engineering Design I & II, Control of Aerospace and Mechanical Systems, Thermodynamics, Financial Accounting, Engineering Mechanics, General Psychics I, II, III, Engineering Economy MECHANICAL ENGINEERING - PROJECT OVERVIEW:

University of Colorado at Colorado Springs, Colorado Springs, CO Demonstrated academic knowledge and experience in product/system life cycle from inception to consumption within the marketplace. Ability to understand the forces and the thermal environment a product, its parts, and/or its subsystems will encounter. Able to design the parts/subsystems for functionality and aesthetics. Skilled at determining the best way to manufacture parts/systems to ensure operational ability without failure. Excel at analyzing/designing objects and systems with motion. TEAM LEADER May 2015

Senior Design Project

Led team of four students providing consultation to DePuy Synthes Corporation – a global organization delivering solutions to patients experiencing orthopedic and neurological conditions. Goal: to improve efficiency, safety and performance of the production line of medical devices.

Determined and managed individual assignments for team members. Identified individual strengths and aligned skills with requirements to facilitate overall team performance.

Restructured Heading Department Production line of bone trauma medical devices utilizing LEAN manufacturing principles and standards.

Decreased walking distances between machines on the production line; improved efficiency, safety, and overall performance/productivity 5%. Increase in production flow resulted in improving orientation and access to machines which reduced manning requirements.

Administrative Management: Provided accurate and timely updates to faculty advisor. Scheduled meetings with team to review progress and determine priorities for project completion. CHARITY PERRY Resume - Page 2

MECHANICAL ENGINEERING - PROJECT OVERVIEW continued FOUR WHEEL All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV) PROJECT - 2014 Designed a small effective manual three-speed transmission for a class project, to meet the cost and size requirements of a four wheel ATV.

Requirements: Design a three-speed transmission with reverse, less than eleven inches in diameter with specific cost restrictions.

Researched and analyzed various orientations of gearboxes; determined best size and optimal gear ratios required to meet both size and cost constraints.

Design effort hinged on determining an optimal clutch gear set. Design efforts effectively minimized the size, materials, complexity, and weight of the gearbox which resulted in a reduced cost.

The design was modeled in Autodesk Inventor.

PING PONG BALL LAUNCHER PROJECT - 2014

Requirements: Design a Ping Pong Ball Launcher prototype to imitate another player’s return service for the purpose of enabling table tennis players to practice solo.

Created a Ping Pong ball launcher prototype using foam core and a quick return four-bar linkage mechanism. Designed the launcher to maintain enough speed to help improve the player’s performance while clearing the net. Designed ball to bounce of the distance down the table.

Prototype created was retained by the Professor to demonstrate to future classes. BRIDGE DESIGN PROJECT – 2012

Requirements: Design a bridge using computer modeling software that would use minimal materials without failure.

Designed a bridge utilizing a truss that eliminated the need for additional materials. The truss design distributed the forces throughout the bridge decreasing the stress/strain at concentrated locations.

Placed third in competition with the other students in the class. WORK HISTORY

EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM TECHNICIAN 2008 to 2010

Pikes Peak Community College Child Development Center, Colorado Springs, CO Provided a safe learning and developmental environment for infants from diverse ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds. Created an environment to effectively improve cognition, meet emotional and physical needs, while meeting procedural and policy regulations.

Integrated an early childhood learning curriculum. Implemented a hands-on learning approach, incorporating non-traditional mediums, unstructured play, and behavior modification methods.

Encouraged cooperative social skills, peer interaction, and individual achievement levels of each child. Enhanced a fun/exciting learning environment, while promoting independence/safety.

Observed/assessed children’s learning challenges; systematically involving Training Technician and appropriate Clinical staff for referral and evaluation processes.

Fostered a nurturing environment; successfully assisting children with identifying emotions and developing coping skills for separation anxiety, anger and frustration. COMPUTER APPLICATIONS/SYSTEMS: Microsoft Office: [Word, Excel, PowerPoint], Matlab, AutoDesk Inventor, COMSOL Multiphysics
