Projects

Estimation of Stress Intensity Factor Using Finite Element Analysis

Center crack plate model was set up Hypermesh 12.0 and solved in Abaqus. The value of Stress Intensity Factor (Ki) estimated using FEA and compared with the value using Schijve’s equation.

Body Stiffness Analysis of an automobile Body In White (BIW)(FEA)

The basic intention of the project was to study the effects of change in bending and torsional stiffness with respect to each other on improving any of the stiffness value. The target was to approach with a new design without altering the thickness of the components and also taking mass changes into consideration

Durability of mild steel component under repeated loading

Cycle counting using rain flow method was used for cycle counting and Miner’s linear damage rule for calculating damage each cycle contributes to the overall life of the component.

Design a Bridge and Perform Structural Analysis Using Finite Element Analysis

Bridge is optimized to take maximum load and have least weight, model of bridge was analyzed in Abaqus and critical members were optimized.

Modal Analysis of BIW and improving the natural frequency by 1%

Modification of a beam was done to improve the bending stiffness and mass reduction.

Design and Analysis of Chassis-Anti Roll Bar

Design consideration including function and performance of an anti-roll bar.

Influence of geometric variables on performance of an anti-roll bar.

Fatigue life prediction of antiroll bar using strain approach.

Analysis of spring, rod and simply supported beam under bending

Which took into consideration 1D, 2D, 3D Abaqus elements. The analysis resulted in procuring the knowledge for the appropriate size and element type to be used which is important in any CAE work. Usage of Hypermesh.

Design and Fabrication of Air Conditioned Three Wheeled Passenger vehicle – Vehicle was installed with HVAC system by changing its existing chassis, engine and body interior and exterior. Undergraduate senior design project (Awarded “Best Student Project-2013”)

BAJA SAE INDIA – 2012, worked as lead for design of roll cage and achieved our goal of mass reduction.

BAJA SAE INDIA – 2011, worked as team member for brake, steering and suspension system. Main work include design, development and testing of vehicle as per requirement of SAE BAJA guidelines.

New Design for Turbocharger Housing- proposed new material with its manufacturing processes and changes in mechanical properties and microstructures during processing.

Analysis of car model using CFD as user end.

Extra-Curricular Activities

Worked for Program Chair for SAE India Nirma Collegiate Club

Organized Auto-Extravaganza (a workshop dedicated completely to automobiles) in INGENIUM 2011, under Mechanical Engineering Students Association (MESA).
