Representative Project Experience:
Momentive Performance Materials, Inc. (MPM) – Waterford, Reliability Engineering. My responsibilities are to maintain the functionality of all equipment within the manufacturing process to limit production down time. This involves reviewing equipment failure, gathering maintenance and material data from production engineers, maintenance staff, equipment archives, and SAP database. Once information is gathered and analyzed on current and past failures, a recommendation is submitted for the replacement equipment, which provides better productivity and reliability. This helps to reduce maintenance labor and the overall cost of production.
In addition to the reliability engineering responsibilities, I have performed management of various projects from the development of scope, system and financial planning, project construction, execution and close-out. The project engineering responsibilities have included utility systems, process spaces, and environmental conditions at process buildings.
Albany International Airport - New Terminal and Concourse Design, Albany, NY. The work associated with the projects includes renovation/relocation of existing equipment and systems, and the construction of a temporary concourse. The purpose was to maintain full airport operations during the construction of the new Terminal and Concourse. Provided design services for the numerous airport related projects due to the phasing needed. Phases included interim, present, and future plans through 20 years of growth. Project was fast track design; foundation and structures were starting to be erected as the design was on going. Construction budget $67 Million.
Additional work included design of associated demolition work; modifications to existing boilers for conversion from fuel oil to natural gas fuel and re-design of existing boiler systems in various portions of the existing facility. Final design included design of an emergency power system with totally automatic controls to supply back-up power in the event of Utility Company power failure.
Future design work included allowances of the air, piping, and electrical distribution systems for future loads. The major equipment included (2) 500 Ton chillers at 860 GPM, (2) 12,555 MBH dual fuel boilers at 670 GPM, and additional boiler to be provided at 3.0 million enplanement planned growth. Primary hot water pumping at 670 GPM, secondary pumping ranging in capacities from 450-650 GPM for Variable Air Volume reheat, fin radiation, air curtains, and miscellaneous terminal units.
Duties performed during this project. Project management representing mechanical and electrical engineering throughout the various designs; and main point of contact with all clients, engineers and architects. Assisted in- house engineers with the HVAC design from planning, schematics and through document completion. During the Construction Phase, tasks performed were review of shop drawings, equipment and systems installation through completion acceptance.
NYS Office of General Services, Upgrade Capitol Elevators, NYS Capitol, Albany, NY. Replacement of eight (8) elevators in (4) elevator shafts, renovation of (2) existing machine rooms, construction of the (2) new machine rooms to be relocated. The project included removals associated with the existing elevators and existing unneeded and/or non-code complying elements; reconstruction to meet current code and program requirements, including complex historic values to be preserved. Provided an extensive program report including planning and budgets, seeking approval from the Agency and Senate, as the elevators served spaces close to their chambers. Also developed construction documents for mechanical, electrical and plumbing design. Mechanical work included providing separate air conditioning and ventilation systems for the expanded penthouse. Elevator machine rooms, as well as the re-routing of the existing air shafts to accommodate the expanded Penthouses. Plumbing work, included new elevator pit sump pumps, the discharge to be connected to the existing systems. Electrical work included new normal power, emergency power and fire alarm systems for the new elevator installation; all services were connected to existing major systems. Construction Cost: $6 Million.

Duties performed for this project. Point of contact and team leader for the project, including the architecture, historic architecture specialty, structural, and MEP systems. I was responsible for performance of an extremely important approach to the program documentation, while included the various building construction aspects of the design. Managed the development of design, construction documents, and project completion for the complete project. Perform the design for the HVAC and plumbing scope of work. Bender Labs Building Renovations, University Heights Campus, Albany, NY. Design of renovations to an existing lab building to comply with ASHRAE Standards for HVAC in laboratory applications and NEC Standards. The project included compliance for outside air requirements, ventilation in laboratory areas, duct velocity for fume hood exhaust, including minimum distance from fume hoods for air distribution; and emergency power distribution. Laboratories for this facility included Micro-bacteria, Microscopy, Bacteriology, Chemistry, SEEMA Lab, ELISA (Enzyme Linked Immunosorbent assay), Hematology. The mechanical design consisted of redesign of the HVAC systems to accommodate increased heating and cooling loads and increased ventilation requirements for lab applications with fume hoods. The design provided variable volume air supply to be able to adjust to the fume hood minimum and maximum airflow requirements and spot exhaust ventilation. Fan coil units provided heating and cooling for the building. The electrical design included the upgrade of the building power distribution, lighting systems, security and fire alarm systems and site lighting system. The electrical design also included the analysis and provision for emergency power requirements for critical building load and laboratory equipment. Construction Cost:
$750,000.
Duties performed for this project. Existing conditions survey, HVAC design, coordination with electrical and plumbing design.
Trinity Building Renovation, St. Lawrence Psychiatric Center, Ogdensburg, NY. Renovations to an existing, 186,000 SF 304-bed patients building for consolidation of staff and resources from several other buildings to a central location. Spaces included 100 bed patient areas, program areas for clients, clinic, pharmacy, dietary offices, complete kitchen facilities, dining area, and administrative offices. Mechanical design included 4-pipe hot/chilled water system; multiple zones with reheat air handling units, and perimeter radiation. Cooling design based on 600 Ton Single Stage Absorption Chiller with matched cooling towers. Heating design based on high pressure steam furnished centrally from a Site Power Plant. Electrical design included full electrical power distribution, new lighting design, emergency power, fire alarm system design, data and communications design, and security system design. Fire Protection design required a fully sprinkled facility, which included both wet-pipe and dry-pipe systems. Plumbing design included renovations of existing kitchen facility, shower and toilet room renovations to adapt to new uses and handicap requirements, new and reconnected storm systems. Construction Cost: $55 Million. Duties performed during this project. Principal in charge for the MEP scope of this project, including phasing, interim construction to create spaces while the renovation took place. Developed construction documents, full coordination with owner, owner representative, architects and engineers. Project management for the MEP scope of work. Assisted in-house engineers with the HVAC design from planning, schematics and through document completion. During planning phase, developed a detailed building condition survey for the MEP systems with budget costs to assist on the decision making in how to approach the building renovations. During the Construction Phase, reviewed shop drawings, attended construction project meetings, equipment and systems installation through completion acceptance.
NYS Office of Mental Health Security Improvements at 21 Statewide Facilities, NY. Created a statewide security initiative to optimize and standardize the safety and security of staff and patients at all facilities statewide. Provided uniform and consistent security systems, administration, and maintenance programs. The various efforts included master planning of all 28 facilities; selection of systems and systems’ manufacturers; created mock-ups for testing; created standards, protocols, and training programs, for the intent to achieve appropriate utilization and application of security statewide. Systems included sallyports,

portal doors, exit/emergency exits, closed circuit television (CCTV), electronic card access, and biometric technology. The length of time of this initiative was for 15 years, from the planning to the last facility construction project. Construction Cost: $40 Million. Duties performed during this project. Principal in charge of the complete initiative, gathering of existing documentation and site conditions, created planning and scheduling for multiple buildings at the various facilities. Created and maintained the tracking systems to know the status of each facility while maintaining focus on the purpose of the initiative.
Project management for the team, including variety of scopes with architects, planners, civil and site engineering, structural engineering, and MEP systems engineering. Main point of contact with owner and contracting agency and key coordinator of all activities which were at various phases throughout the state, from inception to contract completion.
Assisted in-house engineers with the HVAC and security design, from planning, schematics and through document completion. During the Construction Phase, reviewed shop drawings, attended construction project meetings, equipment and systems installation through completion acceptance. DOT Rest Area Design, Route 17, Chautauqua & Cattaraugus Counties, NY. Rest area buildings, 9500 SF, to conform with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) guidelines, including building spaces to house a comfort station, tourist information space, interior lobby space, vending space, operation and mechanical space, and a New York State Police interstate highway patrol office. The mechanical systems included heating, fuel oil storage and distribution systems; central air handling systems for heating, cooling and ventilation; in-slab radiant floor heating system; domestic water distribution system; and sanitary and storm waste system. The electrical systems included emergency power generator; lighting systems; power, data, and telephone distribution systems; fire alarm system; site lighting and power, and lighting protection systems. MEP Cost: $1,060,000.

In addition to the mechanical system efforts, I was the point of contact for the project representing all mechanical, electrical, and plumbing contracts. References upon request
