EDUCATION
B.S., Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, May 2015
University of Maryland, College Park
GPA: 3.56
WORK EXPERIENCE
MedImmune Inc. 6/2014-8/2014
Process Engineering Intern
Designed and performed an experiment to quantify the effects of cleaning and sterilizing processes on diaphragm valves.
Supported engineering and manufacturing operations with bioreactors, liquid chromatography columns, and tangential flow filtration skids in a GMP environment in the downstream purification suite.
Aided senior process engineers with updating process and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), preventative maintenance task lists, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for new equipment.
Served as a point of contact for contractors and coordinated their activities with manufacturing operations.
Flowserve Corporation 6/2013-8/2013
Engineering Intern
Developed a program in excel to calculate the weight of pump components based on design drawing specifications.
Standardized the documentation and data analysis methods that pump improvement engineers use to perform inspections.
Assisted senior engineers with the handling and fulfilling of non-conformance reports for parts that failed to meet company standards as part of a larger continuous improvement process (CIP) project. Obtained a CIP yellow belt certification for applying six sigma techniques during the project.
5-Tool Baseball 6/2010-2/2015
Coach/Counselor
Instructed children ages 7-14 in learning the fundamentals of baseball including pitching, hitting and defense.
Educated children on the rules of the game and how to safely execute all drills and situations.
Lead group of 10 children as a single team and managed them throughout daily activities.
TECHNICAL EXPERIENCE
Methane to Methanol ChemCAD Design Project 3/2015
Modeled the methane conversion to methanol in ChemCAD and used sensitivity studies to optimize the reaction operating conditions and purification steps.
Incorporated integrated heat exchanger networks and catalytic/kinetic data to simulate the process yields, conversions, and heat input requirements.
Performed an economic analysis of the process which included equipment sizing and costing, return on investment, and net present value of the process through the first 20 years of operation.
Multicomponent Separation ChemCAD Project 4/2014
Used ChemCAD to model a multicomponent distillation process and analyze the effect of reflux ratio, feed location, and operating pressure on the distillate product.
Prepared a project report that included a comprehensive summary of results, the effects of the selected vapor-liquid equilibrium model, and recommendations for further studies.
Thermodynamic Design Project 4/2012
Created a program to perform a thermodynamic analysis of a mixture using MATLAB and MathCad.
Applied thermodynamic calculations to monitor the changes in mixture properties and composition throughout multiple processes in response to changes in operating conditions.
