ENGINEERING EXPERIENCES
South Central Railways, India summer 12
Rail Road Maintenance Intern
Examined the procedures that Indian Railways follow in order to maintain its rail roads
Collaborated with other engineering, quality, and manufacturing personnel to determine pertinent quality concerns and inquired about possible upgrades with machinery that they use for maintaining rail road
A detailed report was made which includes all the machinery and procedure that are used by the rail company
Binghamton University, Binghamton, NY spring 14- present Research Assistant
Conducted research on prosthetic foot design that can be manufactured using 3D-Printing technology
Developed a prosthetic foot by using CREO 2.0, followed by an optimization study to achieve its peak performance
Finite Element Analysis was performed using ANSYS 15 to check for its failure followed by a fatigue analysis
The designed prosthetic foot is manufactured using Additive manufacturing techniques to test it in the real world
Sonic Blocks Inc., Binghamton, NY winter 14-present
Design Engineer Intern
Served as an integral member of the team in developing a new consumer electronic speaker system
Worked with a group of eight students and successfully guided the CAD team members in developing components and assemblies of the new product
Prototypes were manufactured using 3D-Printing technology. Stratasys uPrint SE Plus and MakerBot 2X replicator were used for 3D-printing.
PROJECTS:
Design and analysis of landing gear mechanism for fighter aircrafts fall 14
Designed a landing gear mechanism using four-bar mechanism that can deploy and retract into fuselage in less time
Creo 2.0 was used as a design tool and Finite Element Analysis was performed using Creo 2.0 simulate and ANSYS 15
The results obtained from simulations were validated manually to check for errors
Design and analysis of a powered pallet lifter fall 14
Designed a portable and low cost pallet lifter as per NEMA standards, maximum lift is 220lbs up to 25in from ground
A dynamic analysis was performed to check for failures during the normal operational condition
Creo 2.0 was used for modeling and dynamic analysis, Ansys 15 was used to run Finite Element Analysis
Evaluating the mechanical properties of 3DPrinted materials by varying their print configurations summer 14
Printed 150 3D printed specimens with various infill percentages and possible print orientations using ABS plastic
Performed tensile/fatigue tests on Instron 5500 and MTS universal testing machine to find their mechanical properties
A finite element model was developed using Ansys 15 to simulate the test conditions with different parameters
Design and fabrication of powered exoskeleton fall-spring 13
Designed an exoskeleton suit that enables the user to lift up to 60lbs without much effort
Modeling and analysis was done using PTC Pro-E wildfire 4.0
Two DC linear actuators connected to a microprocessor were used which takes inputs from several EMG sensors
Fabricated the components and assembled them to evaluate its performance
Design and fabrication of automated wheel chair for National Instrument national competitions spring 12
Designed the chassis for the wheel chair using Pro-E 4.0 followed by finite element analysis using ANSYS 14
Automation was achieved using NI sbRIO microprocessor and two DC motors were used to displace 250lbs
Successfully fabricated the components and assembled them to obtain a fully operational automated wheel chair
Design and fabrication of 4-Degree of freedom robotic arm manipulator fall 11
Designed a 4-DOF manipulator using inverse kinematics and wrote NC codes for achieving various movements.
Built the manipulator using fiber glass for arms and servo motors as actuators controlled by Arduino microcontroller
Design and fabrication of 6-legged mechanical Hexapod spring-Fall 10
Designed a fully functional 6-legged robot that can carry 20lbs load and walk on any terrain using Pro-E 4.0
Fabricated the parts from scrap using Mild Steel and assembled the machine to walk in the real world
Design and fabrication of 4-legged mechanism using Theo Jansen Mechanism summer 10
Analyzed the Jansen's linkage and designed a smooth walking gait according to my requirement by using Pro-E 4.0
Created a prototype from fiber glass and used one 12 V DC motor with a reduction gear unit for actuation.
