ALCOA POWER & PROPULSION, Wichita Falls, TX February 2012 - Present

Product Engineer. Contribute to the success of engineering and manufacturing operations for a portfolio of 100+ equiax commercial and military superalloy blades and vanes for aircraft engines. Serve as a catalyst for achieving all key performance indicators by focusing on reducing scrap, improving product quality, identifying/correcting root cause production issues, and ensuring dimensional qualifications/re-qualifications conform with customer blueprints and specifications throughout the life of the program.

• Technical Analysis: Analyze data to improve dimensional yields of product. Prepare and present technical layout reports that document dimensional analysis to ensure accuracy and quality of the product/manufacturing process. Ensure compliance with customer blueprints & specifications. Utilize programs such as SolidWorks and Unigraphics to model fixtures and analyze customer models.

• Aerospace Customer Relationship Management: Develop strong working relationships and served as a front line product engineering contact with aerospace industry (Pratt &Whitney, MTU) customers across the world. Serve as a point of contact for yield and delivery issues through weekly conference calls and customer visits. Provide and maintain milestones to customer for developmental programs.

• Tooling Design, Build and Qualification: Responsible for quoting and overseeing the building and qualifications of dimensional inspection gauges with outside vendors; perform and analyze gage R&R studies to ensure quality controls/customer specifications are met; led the efforts for designing electronic gauges that reduced labor costs by minimizing setup times and maintenance costs.

• Lean Manufacturing / Six Sigma: Implement Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodology in driving solutions to their root cause; led a Six Sigma scrap reduction project on the GP7000 Engine Program (the turbofan jet engine for the Airbus A380) and implemented other process improvements that reduced scrap levels by a combined 22.4% resulting in cost savings of $357,000.

• Process & Yield Improvements: Improve first time yields on production line by analyzing scrap and using root cause analysis and other problem solving techniques. Implement, monitor, and document changes based on analysis into the production process. Troubleshoot daily manufacturing issues related to part specific portfolio.

• Cost Control Initiatives: Drive cost and yield improvements as a Team Leader developing milestones and action plans during the year to reduce labor, scrap, and material costs for the products with the highest combined costs.

• Safety & Ergonomics Enhancements: Executed safety and ergonomic improvements across operations and in new designs. Team lead concentrating on improving instructions and processes to minimize occurrence of human error within manufacturing process.
