Virtual Technology Tech Lead
Provided extensive project documentation for project accountability while architecting and co-managing the rebuild of Citrix environments for North America and South East Asia for Talisman Energy. The environments were being upgraded to Windows 2003 TS server, Citrix Presentation Server 4.0 and Softicity (AppV) for application deployment.
Served as the lead administrator and architect for the Citrix environment, which had 40+ servers and 350 applications which involved infrastructure design and planning; application installation and troubleshooting; WAN optimization analysis; rapid server deployment; created change management rules and Citrix farm documentation; tested and deployed Active Directory rules to secure and optimize servers; created procedures for environment; worked with application support people to help their applications work on an MS Terminal Server etc.
Kept Metaframe farm up to date by testing and implementing new feature releases and analyzing new Portal products along with hardware infrastructure upgrades such as blade servers and Ghost imaging software. Designed all aspects of new Metaframe farm to centrally deploy applications within the company. Started to bring in VMWare for Citrix server testing and developments PC’s environment.
Created VMWare environment for customer to reduce server infrastructure costs, using VMWare’s ESX product, HP servers and SAN. Managed environment to deliver development PC’s and Citrix test servers.
Delegated support duties to two junior administrators
Provided over-all support for Network environment, which involved over 150 servers
Successfully converted 7 NT 4.0 Terminal servers with various versions of Citrix Metaframe to Windows 2000 platform with Citrix Metaframe XPe, resulting in gaining customers confidence to significantly expand the remote computing environment to a current total of 30 servers which supported the current 1000 users and handled 1700 employees for remote application access.
Successfully architected and created the Citrix Metaframe environment for Talisman’s Kuala Lumpur office for off-shore oil platform application access via VSAT including gathering communication optimization information for ICA traffic and making recommendations to network/communications administrators.
Spent time on researching and testing technologies such as Softricity (AppV), and thin clients etc.
Working on architecting a new Citrix farm using Windows 2003 Terminal Server and Metaframe 4.0
Developed and implemented the Citrix portion of the Disaster Recovery plan for Talisman Energy.
