Service Engineer III

Designed LTE and UMTS radio access networks (RAN) for large wireless operators (AT&T & Sprint). Provided consulting and leadership for projects.

As team leader, provided RF consulting for AT&T in North Texas Market.

-Delivered more than 4,000 RFDSs and RNDCIQs (checklist) for LTE and UMTS carrier expansion and new sites.

-Delivered the RF LTE design for infill sites (850MHz, 1900 MHz and AWS) in El Paso using Atoll and ACP, all KPI's reached.

-Delivered more ten 20 search ring design for new sites.

Supported UMTS and LTE pre and post launch optimization team on LTE second carrier and UMTS carving (700 MHz, 850 MHz, 1900 MHz and AWS).

Conducted LTE integration audits and KPI’s analysis of CDMA2000 & EVDO for Sprint in DFW and East Texas Markets (RF Engineer) using ERTT. Accomplished 100% LTE site audits with no errors and ready to launch.

RF Engineer (RFSE2)

As a contractor for Ericsson, designed new LTE RAN for AT&T in Boston Area Market (New Haven, Yale) (700 MHz) using Atoll and ACP. All KPIs were reached and the design solutions accepted with no restriction for 150 sites.

Consultant of Network Engineering

Designed and optimized UMTS RAN (Ericsson) and GSM BSS (Huawei) in Minas Gerais State Market, Brazil. Developed GSM BSS and UMTS RFPs (Request for Proposal).

As team leader, successfully designed, launched and optimized UMTS RAN (350 sites) in 2100 MHz Band, and conducted the first UMTS RAN trail in South America - Belo Horizonte (2007) (34 sites in 850 MHz). The design tool was Planet EV. Developed performance analysis procedures to be followed by Ericsson and applied optimization meetings Ericsson team to achieve goal KPIs and to identify new sites needed for coverage and or capacity.

As team leader, compiled the RFP for GSM BSS, and coordinated the design, launch and optimization team in Triângulo Mineiro submarket, Minas Gerais State, Brazil (200 sites). The design project was done on Planet EV. This project was evaluated as the Best in Class KPIs in all state submarkets (Minas Gerais - population 18 mi).

-Design and optimization using TEMS Pocket, CW tests, of 3 new DAS solutions (Repeater/passive DAS and small cell/passive DAS) for malls in Uberaba and Uberlândia, Brazil.

-Design and optimization of the frequency plan for GSM 1800 Band using Planet.

-Technical Final Acceptance for BSS.

Compiled the GSM BSS RFP for Minas Gerais State, Brazil. Completed before the deadline and with a PM (Project Management) attached RFP, it was recognized by the stakeholders as well by the bidders, as an outstanding project according to schedules and technical requirements.

Received the Huawei Partners Awards, due to the technical performance and partnership that created the first successful Huawei GSM network in South America. Shanghai, China, 2006.

Telecom Specialist Engineer

Planned, designed and GSM BSS (Siemens & Ericsson) using Planet in São Paulo State, Brazil. Edited GSM BSS RPF for a national network - Brazil. Optimized and designed TDMA network in São Paulo State countryside.

As team leader, designed approximately 1400 sites in São Paulo State (population 34 mi) using Planet. The São Paulo city metro area (population 17 mi) project was driven to share 70% of sites with other operators, and this advanced the launch in 4 months. The RFP (4,000 sites) was ready in three months and was recognized as a remarkable deliverable by America Movil.

Amazônia Celular S.A. (Telefonica), Belém – Brazil 1999 – 2001

Optimization Supervisor (Manager)

Managed the TDMA optimization team (12 engineers) in five states of north region of Brazil.

Built and coached the optimization team according to the best practices of design and optimization.

Developed procedures and documentation to evolve engineering topics related to antennas acquisition, design using Planet, and optimization using TEMS, Comarco, LCC.

Design and optimization of DAS solution using CW tests, TEMS for 3 malls in Belém, Manaus, São Luís, Brazil. And for one hotel in Belém (Hilton Hotel) using a Repeater / passive DAS with radiating cable.

Elaboration of the procedure and execution of the tunning of propagation models to be used in Belém, São Luís and Manaus using Planet. We built a module with a transmitter and antenna.

Achieved best in class (E-800) KPIs among all Ericsson’s networks in Brazil.

Took Initiative to handle migration from AMPS to TDMA internally which saved US$10M. A procedure was developed to identify the needs, the applied MOP (Method of Procedure) for scripting, physical installation, testing and monitoring.

Telemig Celular S.A. (Telefonica), Belo Horizonte – Brazil 1997 - 1999

Senior RF Engineer

As team leader, optimized the TDMA network (150 sites) of one in five MSCs in Belo Horizonte (population 3 mi).

Achieved Best in Class (E-800) KPIs among all (5) MSCs in Metro Area. Extensive usage of macros on excel to generate KPI reports, drive tests using Agilent, Comarco, scanners RF Sat, T-Bird etc.

Led the migration from AMPS to TDMA, and applied first field test of RF features like cell tiering.

Took initiative to do the first tests with X-Pol antennas in urban clusters (1997) and ODAS solution trial (Hubber-Suhner). Deep knowledge of antenna system.

Represented the engineering in Nortel TDMA Committee Meeting in Miami, USA, 1999.
