Experience encompasses serving as Director of Engineering, production and operations and planning for MGI Electronics, charged with managing more than 90 production, board fabrication, stock room and machine shop employees with a monthly production quota of $650,000. Product presentations and customer relations were a critical aspect of sales promotion to maintain production & sales quotas. Coordinated with Sales Team contacting clients and making presentations. Career Highlights
As Lead Mechanical Engineer with Argonne National Laboratory of a multi departmental member team developed nu- clear fuel processing equipment to recycle the spent fuel, which mitigated hazardous fuel repository requirements. Conse- quently, the project resulted in qualification of a technology and process to provide long range fuel for power production with mitigation of nuclear waste product with an annual operating budget $73 million to $80 million.
Entrusted by MGI senior management with a production output quota averaging $650,000 monthly with a highlight of this operation focused on the design, fabrication, testing and overseas installation of a multiple stage multi-function wafer transfer unit with stringent physical and operational challenges. This system unit price was $128,000 with subsequent or- der for several units.
Charged as Engineering Manager with Tecan Systems to coordinate with other company departments when The Director of Engineering vacated his post. Subsequently, 9 blood analysis systems where assemble and delivered over a 5-month period at a cost of $980,000 for the units to a San Jose pharmaceutical equipment supplier, with the customer completely satisfied with the product and timely delivery to showcase the units for an industry exhibition. Benefit Statement
Demonstrated 20+ year track record of success in system component/equipment selection, fabrication, technical documenta- tion and meeting stringent performance requirements reducing project cost & increased bottom line revenue for the company. Key Areas of Expertise
Creating a Shared Project Management Vision Ability to Grasp/Understand & Employ New Technologies Strict Adher- ence to Nuclear Regulatory, FDA & Safety Specifications Strong Knowledge of Hydraulics, System Mechanisms, Instru- mentation, Robotic & Automation Control Techniques & Implementation Staff & Functional team Development. Consultancy Engagements
Sterling/ Castle Engineering Group, 2007 to Present - On Contract Project Manager – Project development of energy generating systems for commercial research ventures.
Design integration of conventional construction vehicle utilizing diesel power plant driving generator providing power on remote area projects. Electric power generation is achieved through a gearbox switching method with split driveshafts.
Design development of power generation through permanent magnets and electro-switching modes for electric power generation for remote residential and small commercial areas. Nicholas (Myk) Pavlenko Page Two
Alcoa Aluminum, Inc., Newburg, Indiana Jan. - June 2009 Technical Instructor – Primary duties focused on providing ongoing technical overview for hydraulic systems and instru- mentation techniques as applicable to systems at the Alcoa Warwick facility to achieve optimal systems support. Tricor Systems, Chicago, Illinois Jan. 2006 - Dec. 2007 Engineering/Project Director – Responsibilities included directing the design and production of electrical drive systems and hydrogen fuel cell system development.
Successfully managed product design and manufacturing of hydrogen fuel cell and hub motor drive developments relat - ing to vehicle applications for recreational and transportation usage. Electric Vehicle Technologies, Skokie, Illinois Aug. 2004 - Nov. 2005 Engineering Manager – Charged with managing engineering, design and assembly staff in the development of an electric hub motor for adaptation to vehicular applications.
Headed and coordinated design effort of project team through final development and application of vehicle usage. Livermore National Laboratory, Livermore, California Jan 1996 - Dec. 1999 Mechanical Process/Design Engineer – Held accountable for building a comprehensive tracking database for process equipment purchases and delivery status.
Worked as a member of a multi departmental cross-functional team on the Advanced Vapor Laser Isotope System
(AVLIS). An analysis of the material recovery system for enriched uranium resulted in an 18% increase in recovered processed uranium through modification of the trough profile from a rounded trough to one with an angular configura- tion. Insight into the geometric surface tension qualities and proposed modifications yielded increased recovery. Professional Experience & Accomplishments
Retech Systems., Ukiah, California 2007 to 2008
(A world leader in the design and manufacturing of E-Beam, Plasma Arc, PACT, Furnaces, Powder Production and other thermal pro- cessing equipment.)
Project Engineer – Duties included performing structural and operational analysis of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, vacuum and flow sub-systems required for optimal system operation with strict adherence to project specifications.
Designed a Cold Hearth Furnace Titanium processing system negotiations with a vacuum valve manufacturer, which proved instrumental in realizing savings of $26,000 (overall project cost $129 million) by analyzing the structure and function of a standard valve, which was scaled-down in material and components to achieve project cost savings. Heat and Control, Hayward, California 2006
(A food processing equipment design and manufacturing company specializing in the packaging, weighing, inspection, and product han- dling systems)
Project Engineer – Charged with designing and managing all aspects of customer coordination for an electro-mechanical automated food processing system.
Developed unique design characteristics with system having the capability to be highly customized depending on market- ing, customer requirements and consumer trends.
