Duties:

As a Senior IT Analyst & System Engineer (Linux & Windows), my role is to provide comprehensive architectural design for the deployment of a new datacenter which comprises of servers, storage, virtualization, networking and enterprise backup solution using Data-domain Networker and converge infrastructure running on Vblock 720 hardware and VMAX 40K storage for JHAH.

SCOPE OF WORK

My task is to design and build from scratch (green field) JHAH IT environment which will support Epic deployment. The project is to provide healthcare services using Epic solution to the entire Saudi Arabia Kingdom. The kingdom is upgrading its healthcare system to Epic enterprise solution. My role is to act as subject matter expect on Linux deployment which houses Epic Cache database, provision storage using Unisphere for Vmax (VMAX 40K SAN) to bare metal UCS servers and ESX host, design the backup solution, drafting backup policies and work with EMC and VCE to integrate Data Domain and Networker, managed VMs using vcenter and the entire Vblock 720 with one aim to maintain business continuity and disaster recovery operations and management.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Setup, configure, and maintain storage solutions, including, but not limited to SAN/DAS/NAS systems using Unisphere for VMAX.

Serve as subject matter expert in design and configuration of storage attached networks.

Design, maintain and support storage backup solutions for JHAH clinical and non-clinical systems.

Participate in design and planning for Disaster Recovery Management.

Design and build SAS analytical software for Vodafone South Africa: The projects include deploying the OS from scratch and work with SAS engineers to deploy the software (SAS 9.4) on Linux. This is the first time SAS.com deployed SAS analytical software (big data solution) on Linux in Vodacom; it is a pleasure working with SAS to deploy the solution a business critical application for Vodafone which incorporate key functional department. Currently, I am the 2rd line escalation engineer for the application while the 3rd line is SAS.

DRC Online Self Service Application Vodafone: This project includes 10 DEV servers, 10QA 19 Production, the aim is to provide self-service portal to Vodafone services to the republic of DRC. My role is to build the OS and maintain the application from.

Chordiant project: This project includes 8 ProLiant DL380p Gen8 and 16 VMs the project span across two data centers two databases running Oracleasm and WebLogic application in the front end. My role is to design how the application will be installed by having series of meeting with the vendor and provide high level redundancy; this includes OS deployment, Database and Network redundancy.

Oracle Application Gateway: This project includes eight servers, each server runs its own application, it is not a business critical application hence, and it is not clustered. Key role working at an architectural level.

SAP GRC: This project is ongoing OS deployment and application installation is under construction.

eDirectory: This is another key deployment in Vodafone South Africa, this project is a transition from Active Directory to Novel eDirectory. My role is to deploy the solution from scratch to finished and provide a script formation for the rollout. Currently we are rolling out eDirectory on all 1000 Linux servers using script; this will avoid creating local account on Linux servers rather users can login with their domain credentials to all Linux/AIX/UX servers.
