Some of my PAR (Problem – Action – Results)
Saving OPEX_CAPEX:
-Currently MTN-Syria is in progress to renovate the Radio network, the scope is to replace the current traditional Radio Core ( NSN & Ex. Siemens Equipment’s ) with state of the art Huawei-equipment ( collocated 2G-3G Nodes, Collocated BSC-RNC, IP Based connection, … )
What I did:
1-The operational swap process needs a test bed to
provide all needed tests before launching on air
resolve all new on air problems
test all updates provided by vendor
(one of the NMS Techniques), to make sure all configuration data were defined correctly, a re-dimension for the Radio-Core equipment was tackled, in consequence a test bed with 0$ cost was introduce to network nodes by utilizing cards, spares and available extra BSC-RNC racks
2-Some of main points in renovation SOW were mentioned unclearly, such as number of licenses and the rule of the swap, a hard review was tackled (corrective action for NMS Technique), the main issues were pointed up, MTN-Syria would be charged by Millions of $, those issues were escalated to our board of executives and handled by top management towards Huawei, at the end of the day, it was implemented for free
3-Due to hard political situation in Syria, a hard saving budget is implemented all over the assets, technical training was one of the main points, based on my solid relation with the vendor, I could provide to my team an extensive technical session( this wasn’t included in the SLA ) driven by Huawei team, the target was enabling my team, so the radio network will be handled by MTN-Resources with minimum fault and the Annual SLA will be in acceptable cost
4-During the swap, a lot of technical problems were observed, because of my team and my skills and experience we could pass over 95 %, so the renovation kept in progress with minimum interruption and a little few rollback in some cases
Leader ship:
Due to the current situation in Syria, a lot of our locations were damaged, revenue dropped down a lot, and PAT was expected to be in negative, however, what I did was:
1-a tough plan was tackled by me and Engineering Managers to roll a contingency risk plan in order to save the coverage and the revenue
2-a whole core connection Between BSC-MGW was damaged, It was reported that 9000 Erl’s on BH were lost, the place is dangerous, and I can’t ask any one of my team to do the needed changes, so, I hold a meeting and ask one of my star subordinate to tackle this mission but with me, I encourage him, we took the shot and went there, the service was restored in 12 hours, because of this, me and my team were nominated to be a Yellow-Star member ( Encouraging and Appreciation HR Program )
There are a lot of achievements during my 13 years of working in MTN-Syria, not all can be mentioned and focused
a lot of Thx. Letters were communicated to me,and all are available to be provided when requested
I declare that all the mentioned data belong to me and i will provide all needed documents when requested
