MASTER’S THESIS

Security of Wireless Sensor Networks: Detection of Coordinate deflation and Wormhole attacks in Wireless Sensor Networks based on Virtual Coordinates. Beta Reputation based scheme is employed to prevent routing attacks and make the network robust. The detection scheme is designed and implemented using Topology Preserving Maps of the Wireless Sensor Networks. The entire WSN is divided into clusters to localize attacks and make a faster detection.

PROJECTS

Distributed Hash Table Based Content Searching in Applications-Layer Network: Developed a structured-overlay-based solution that allows a set of nodes to share contents among each other. The file searching was implemented using the Chord Algorithm. Distributed Hash tables were used to maintain node and file details. The algorithm was further improved using caching of previous search results. The system achieved O(log n) lookup of files. Dynamic node addition and deletion was addressed in the design.

Simulating a Link State Routing Protocol: Unix Processes were used to simulate routers in a network running link state algorithm. Dijkstra algorithm was implemented to find the shortest distance for routing. The manager process handled the formation and maintenance of the network. The router process implemented the network routing. Both TCP and UDP protocols were used for communication.

Searching Contents in a Distributed Application Layer Network: Designed and implemented an algorithm for file sharing in a peer-to-peer Overlay Network. SuperNode structure was introduced to achieve faster search results and reduce the per node and per query cost. 100% efficiency was achieved in search results.

Anonymous Web Get: Anonymous retrieving of files from the web was achieved using a chain of stepping stones. The initiator requests a file which travels through a series of friendly peers and the final peer contacts the target server to retrieve the file and sends it back through the same chain. Dynamically reconfigurable chain of stepping stones were designed and implemented.
