Job Objective: There is not a lot of room for advancement in the modern laboratory

and I am willing and excited for an opportunity to branch out from the lab and share my

knowledge in any area I can. I also thrive on learning new techniques and advancements

in laboratory and hospital medicine.

Backround: Two years as a flow cytometrist and four years as a laboratory generalist

with a diverse oncology group. Duties include starting up a Flow Cytometry lab, general

chemistry, hematology and phlebotomy. Over four years with a large physician group lab

as a generalist, the last three years as the microbiology supervisor. Duties include

starting up a microbiology department and running all aspects of that department

including inspections, inventory, and scheduling. Other general duties include all aspects

of Hematology, Chemistry, Immunology, Urinalysis and Blood Bank. Nine months at a

CAP certified hospital on second shift, full time. Duties included testing in all areas of the

lab. Six years experience in an equine hospital lab, one of which was in microbiology.

Duties included greeting physicians and clients, and specimen processing. Running all

aspects of the lab alone and with colleagues. Two and a half years in a 600 bed hospital,

of that, one year as Hematology specialist on second shift.

Education:

Graduate of Lake Superior State University, August 1995. Bachelor of Science in Medical

Technology with a minor in Chemistry.

Graduate of the Clinical Laboratory Science Program at Butterworth Hospital, Grand

Rapids, MI June 23, 1995.

Diploma graduate of Mona Shores High School in Muskegon, MI.

Certification:

Certified by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists on March 31,1995.

Certified by the U.S. Department of Agriculture in Equine Infectious Anemia testing.

Work History:

04/2011 Current – Laboratory generalist. Duties include: Daily

operation of oncology laboratory, maintaining quality control, reagent stocks,

drawing blood, processing specimens, running and reporting results, interacting

with patients, doctors and nurses. Maintenance and calibration of equipment as

well. From 1/2014 to current, starting a flow cytometry lab. Duties include all

aspects of quality control and quality assurance in the flow lab. I also run complex

sampling and analyze data for the pathologists to read.

09/2006 04/2011 Microbiology supervisor at Michigan Medical P.C. (currently

Spectrum Health Medical Group). Built the microbiology department. Duties

include training new lab personnel, QA & QC in microbiology, making certain all

COLA and OSHA guidelines are met, writing new procedures, updating and

maintaining MSDS sheets, reviewing patient reports, inventory, scheduling, fielding

calls and handling any problems, Vitek maintence and general bench work. I am

also a generalist at MMPC. I have experience with LabSoft LIS, Instrumentation

includes: Coulter 750, Roche Cobas 6000, Sysmex 500, Dade RXL, DPC

Immulite, MLA, and Clinitek.

01/2006 09/2006 Lab generalist at North Ottawa Community Hospital, second

shift. Duties included running all aspects of the lab; Hematology, Chemistry, Blood

Bank, and Microbiology set up. Experience with the current LIS, Meditech, and

previous, SoftLab. Responsible for serology testing and I Stat; includes

maintaining procedure manual, monthly checks on QC, instrument maintence, and

training. Instrumentation includes: Coulter 750, Dade RXL, DPC Immulite, OMNI

blood gas, and ACL 7000 coagulation.

08/2002 08/2003 Microbiologist at Hagyard Davidson McGee Equine Hospital

in Lexington, KY. Duties included running all aspects of the lab including QC,

sensitivity studies and reporting all data.

01/1997 08/2002 Medical Technologist at Hagyard Davidson McGee Assoc.

Responsibilities included handling and processing of incoming specimens, running

all routine and special tests, including send outs. Instrumentation included: Cell

Dyn 3500P, Cobas Mira plus, SCA 2000, AVL Opti Critical Care, and AVL 9180

Electrolyte analyzer. Full microbiology responsibilities. Daily QC in each

department, read cytologies, ran full urinalysis.

11/1995 01/1997 Hematology Specialist at Butterworth Hospital in Grand

Rapids, MI. Duties included:

Basic Hematology, Coagulation and Urinalysis practiced by

all Medical Technologists.

Answering any and all questions by colleagues in the three

areas described above.

Preparation for bone marrow including slide preps of

aspirates and core, staining and paperwork.

Running stat coagulation factors on the MLA 1600.

Counting all types of body fluids, including crystals, mucin

clot, etc. on synovial fluids.

Running further stat hematological tests including the fetal

cell stain, APT and LAP.
