Work Experience
Belcan Corporation Cincinnati, OH
Computer Specialist / System Administrator May 2011 – Dec. 2014
(Open Systems - Linux)
Managed backups of data for local offices as well as for 15 off-site locations and administrated
Linux-based backup management servers, EMC Networker on CentOS.
Fixed issues with backups, backup software, and Linux backup servers by working remotely on
software/OS via SSH as well as working with off-site technicians to solve physical issues with backup
hardware.
Promptly responded to user service requests, ITIL compliant, for recovery and/or restoration of files.
Worked on multiple web and desktop applications to support IT infrastructure for entire company
using shell scripting, Perl, PHP, MySQL, Java (JSP), HTML, and CSS.
Planned, developed, implemented, and administered an open source Linux-based 60 TB solution for
tertiary (nearline) storage, using CentOS and ZFS on Linux.
Managed multiple Linux web and database servers, a mix of CentOS, SLES, and openSUSE physical
machines and virtual machines (VMware), along with their hosted content, websites (Apache) and
databases (MySQL).
Assisted with administration of multiple Linux file servers (Samba / CIFS and limited NFS).
Networked machines via CAT6 or Fiber and completed some configuration of Cisco switches (mostly
VLAN changes). I have some networking experience, including layers 3 (IP), 4 (TCP/UDP), and the
application layer.
Northern Kentucky University Highland Heights, KY
Research Assistant May 2005 – Aug. 2010
Principal Investigator: Dr. Stefan Paula
Completed various biochemistry and medicinal chemistry research projects using both
computational and experimental methods.
These included CADD (computer-aided drug design) and subsequent experimental testing as well as
computer-aided specificity and affinity enhancement of an antibody (structure determined by
homology modeling) currently being experimentally tested in a graduate lab at The University of
Cincinnati.
Developed and tailored various experimental and computational protocols for our specific research
needs and capabilities.
Provided IT and software support for the entire laboratory.
Programmed and scripted various applications to automate and support molecular mechanics
simulations and subsequent analyses to streamline computational processes, using Java and C Shell.
