Successfully cared for critically ill newborns in a fast paced, patient family centered 60 bed NICU.

Implemented state of the art 30 bed single family room unit. Provided first class parent education and

support in preparation for discharge. Participated in Vermont Oxford Network, as well as state wide

collaborative perinatal and neonatal quality councils.

Lead charge nurse duties in this 35 bed Level III NICU included daily staffing decisions, patient

assignments, equipment procurement, staff support, grand rounds/infection control rounds, and delivery

attendance. The NICU was associated with the maternal addiction unit (MAU). Weekly MAU

rounds/counseling were included in the role of lead charge.

November 2011 April 2013, Maternity and Disease Management Health Coach/Pediatric Complex Case

Provided remote comprehensive guidance and education to pregnant state employees from preconception

through pregnancy and the postpartum period. Managed complex pediatric cases including both the acute

and chronic stages of illness. Outreached to physicians, DME providers, pharmacies, home health

agencies, and insurance companies which assured continuity of care and cost effectiveness. Improved lives

of patients suffering comorbid illnesses through nutritional counseling, medication guidance, and

Actively recruited approximately seventy five patients into clinical research studies for the NICHD, which

included the PHACT Study, ELBW and Outcomes, and Oxygen Targeting in Extreme Preterm Infants.
