Atlas Logistics.
Startup operation of a Third Party Logistics (3PL) cold storage facility,
warehousing perishable goods, grocery, and distributed to the Loblaw group
of stores. This facility of 700 employees is both non union and CAW
unionized. The HR function was split between the HR Manager and Employee
Development Manager.
Employee Development Manager
Reporting to the site General Manager, developed managerial and supervisory
staff for leadership, labour and business acumen skills. A specialized role
that was unique to this facility.
. Constructed and managed the Atlas Attendance Coaching Program.
Absenteeism was over 14%, reduced to an average of 3%, monthly.
. Identification of training needs with the design / implementation of
employee and supervisor training / development programs. Coordinated /
trained all Supervisors and Employees on the new Violence & Harassment
in the Workplace Legislation.
. Provided coaching, and counseling to Managers / Supervisors on labour
issues and employees on career or training opportunities. Trained
Supervision on CAW first collective agreement language and
application.
. Administered and directed the Employee Communication Survey.
. Introduced a new computer communications electronic billboard. The
system was adopted by other Atlas Canadian and U.S. warehouses as a
key communication platform.
. Composed and administered the Employee Suggestion Program with rewards
for implemented suggestions.
. Created, coordinated and ran the Employee Reward Program. (Atlas
Bucks) Designed funny money modeled after "Canadian Tire" money.

Lofthouse Brass Manufacturing
A world-class engineering / manufacturing of custom complex machined non-
ferrous forgings. (Customers included; Moen Faucet, Delta Faucet, GM,
Callaway Golf) Two locations totaling 300 employees both union and non
union.
Closed operations in May of 2008.
Started in 1988 as a manual lathe / CNC machine operator. Was active in the
CAW union and was elected as Union Chairperson, held this position for 8
years. Continued night school education as a Para-legal and Human
Resources Professional. In 1998 promoted to Corporate Training
Coordinator. Held 5 progressively responsible positions.
