for more than 500 network switches and routers for DIA's global footprint
• Further to particular challenges throughout the federal government due budget restraints, the Agency’s
financial budget were significantly reduced. Moreover, the funding for the CISCO renewable was cut by 50%;
however, my challenge was to negotiate with the vendor to optimize our financial resources and ascertain the
CISCO contract renewal at significant costs savings to the organization. My responsible as the Global Branch
Chief for DIA IT Networks was to ensure both hardware and software were funded, up-to-date, and providing
global voice, video, and data in support of DIA’s global mission. As the subject-matter-expert on contracts, I
identified the risks involved if we did not renew the contracts and the possible of loss of support that could
possible degrade network optimization. This approach led to an in-depth and renewed discussion on cost-
benefit-analysis for CISCO contract renewals. In essence, this approach eventually led to new polices and
procedure, which provided for a combined comprehensive long-term contract that included on-site and training
credits for more than $120Kfor the entire global network teams. Moreover, as a former Navy instructor, I had
the opportunity to enhance my communication skills while teaching more than 850 students during my 3-year
