System D i rector of Lea rn ing I nnovation
OhioHealth is an 11 hospital healthcare system with 23,000 associates.
• Created and lead a Patient-First Innovation Team to create an exemplary patient
experience.
• Designed and implemented an innovative “Leadership Playbook” strategy to improve
T rust, Change, Teamwork and Learning (in collaboration with FranklinCovey).
I mplemented and Coached around the program for all care site leadership (Managers to
CEO) at a 250 bed hospital and outpatient center.
• Developed a system wide strategy for learning that is patient focused and delivers
measurable outcomes, including a 35% reduction in nursing orientation length, saving ~$2
m illion annually.
• Led a team of 52 which included an integrated clinical learning infrastructure.
• Successfully in tegrated two simulation centers (at care-sites) and a system department
(CME) into a high functioning team. Overall simulation utilization went from 3,000 hours
annually to 21,000 hours in one year.
Yale-New Haven Health System, New Haven, CT, 2009 – 2012
M an ager/Educator
Yale-New Haven Health System was a 3 hospital system and an academic medical center.
• Developed and managed the simulation-based learning infrastructure across the system (3
centers, 12 staff).
• Created programs that resulted in measurable outcomes (20% reduction in nursing
o rientation, 10% reduction in infant mortality from cardiothoracic surgery).
• Designed and implemented a strategy to improve interdisciplinary communication by
u tilizing TeamSTEPPS across the entire YNH H Children’s Hospital.
• Created and published a theoretical framework and debriefing model for improving
healthcare outcomes through experiential learning.
• Served on both the Yale School of Medicine and Yale School of Nursing faculty.
